I switched from self employed to quickbooks online last summer, my data didn't transfer over. Where is my data for 2018 (when I started using QB self employed) and 2019?

Try open your QBSE account. If you have open a new QBO account, it is possible your QBSE data didnt migrate at that time.

Hi there, @treecare.

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) is designed for freelancers or self-employed individuals, while QuickBooks Online (QBO) is for small business owners. This means that there isn't an integrated way to switch a QBSE account to QBO or vice versa. But I can surely help you set up a new QBO account and start it from there.

For the transactions, you can manually add them to QBO. Let me walk you through the steps on how.

Here’s how:

  1. Click the + New from the left menu.
  2. Choose any Customers or Vendors transactions from there.

For bank transactions, you can add them to your register. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Accounting menu at the left panel.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Choose a Bank Account.
  4. Click View Register.
  5. Under the Funnel icon, click the Add journal entry drop-down and choose any transaction type.

You can assign and categorize a downloaded transaction in QBO by checking on this article: Assign, categorize, edit, and add your downloaded banking transaction.

Also, you can check this article for the overview of moving the data in QBO from QBSE: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions for me, I'll be here to help. Have an awesome day.
