I'm here to take care of you, whaley.
We love to know how we can improve the progress invoicing feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
We're always working to make QBO exactly what you need for your business. Your feedback helps us decide which features to build, and what improvements should be made to our platform.
I also agree that being able to adjust the quantity and the total line amount on a progress invoice would help many customers track a particular job.
I've forwarded your ideas to our Product Developers. To help us make QBO better, I'm inviting you to send your feedback. To do so, please click the Gear icon and select Feedback.
Thanks for letting us know your experience. I'm happy to help some more if you have other questions about QBO. Have a great day.
Well this would be good. I dont know any type of business that does not sell by a unit and per unit cost. Nobody sells by total line item. That is why the quantity and rate should be adjusted and when those items meet the total line item cost of the estimate then its marked complete. You have it set up as completely opposite. While you're at it can you make it so we can manually check that a line is fulfilled so it appears complete on the estimate?
Hey there, whaley.
Welcome to the Intuit Community. Thanks for getting back to us about your feedback with the Progressive Invoicing feature.
Our product development team perform updates based on customer feedback. For now, we don't have a turn around time as to when this feature is available. We've received feedback about the ability to adjust a quantity through progressive invoicing.

I think this is the same issue I am having but not sure. I am new to Quickbooks and just starting to play around. Progress Invoicing is our #1 priority. I can input the % per line item when formatting the invoice but it is not showing the % that the client is being billed. I need for it to show this. After all, is that what progress should show? How can I make this happen?
What does this have to do with the question? By the way, the Progressive Invoicing still does not work properly. Ugh..,..
Hi there, @menefeearchitecture,
Thank you for adding a thread about the progress invoicing feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can enter the % per line item when creating the invoice. Then, it will show on the attached .PDF when submitting it to your client.
If you want to show the percentage on the email body, I’d recommend submitting feedback to our Product Development Team.
Your feedback is valuable to us. It helps our engineers consider your idea how you’d like to show the % on your client’s invoice email body. Let’s share with them by following the steps below:

I see that this progressive invoicing issue has been going on since at least 2018. It is now the middle of 2020 and I do not see where it has been improved ? Are you all actually working on this?
We have found Quickbooks online to be very ineffective for a manufacturing business. Not having "Sales Order" option (as QB desktop did) or progressive invoicing by QUANTITY makes things very difficult! We have been able to "tweak" estimates to look like a Sales order, but it really isn't the same thing.
Any chance these things are close to being improved on? The invoicing issue has added a lot of extra time and work on our end - leading to less productivity.
