Is anyone having an issue with missing income and expense categories on the app?

Hello, getbetter.

The missing income and expense categories are likely caused by a sync issue or an outdated mobile app version. So, I'd like to lay down a few troubleshooting steps to help you fix the issue.

We'll want to refresh the data within the app to bring those missing categories back on the app. Here's how to do it on iOS and Android devices:

iOS devices:

  1. Go to Menu ☰, tap Help & Feedback.
  2. Tap Refresh Data.
  3. Tap Refresh.

Android:

  1. Go to Menu ☰ then tap More Options ⋮.
  2. Tap Settings, then select Refresh Data.
  3. Tap YES to confirm.

We'll also want to make sure that your mobile app is updated to the latest version. Simply open Google Play or Apple App store from your mobile device, then update the app from there.

Alternatively, we can also uninstall and reinstall the mobile app to fix the issue.

Need to check your Profit and Loss data through reports in the mobile app? Check out one of these articles to help you with the steps:

Let me know if you have more questions about data management in the mobile app. If you have concerns regarding your entries (both in the mobile app or in the web browser), feel free to add the details in your reply. I'm here to help.

Is anyone having an issue with missing income and expense categories on the app?

This is an old question, but I’ve just started having this problem. Many of my categories are suddenly missing from QuickBooks app on my iPhone. The categories are all intact in QuickBooks online. I have followed the advice and deleted and completely reinstalled the iPhone app. I still have, most of my categories missing on the iOS app.

Thank you for joining us here, drsussman. We appreciate you letting us know that you've followed the recommended steps in this thread.

We have an open investigation (INV-105728) regarding missing categories when creating transactions in the QuickBooks Online mobile app. Our engineering team is working to resolve this issue.

To be added to the list of affected users, please reach out to our phone or chat support teams. Everyone added to the list will receive email notifications once we sort this out.

Here's how to reach out to them:

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right-hand corner of QBO.
  2. Proceed to the Assistant tab.
  3. Type in "contact support" in the chat box and press Enter.
  4. Select QuickBooks Online Support, then click Contact Us at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Click Ask about something else, then enter a short description of your concern and you also want to be added to INV-105728.
  6. Choose between Have us call you or Chat.

While this is being worked on, we recommend using the web version of QuickBooks Online to select the missing categories when adding transactions.
