Let me share some idea about managing customers and invoices in QuickBooks Online.
I agree with your idea in adding each parent's email for them to receive the same invoice. You may also create a sub-customer and choose to Bill with parent if you want to bill the customer with the parent account, or choose Bill this customer if you want to bill sub-customer individually.
To add a sub-customer:

Thanks for your reply!
Do sub-customers show up as equals on the invoice? That is, would the invoice specify who's the main customer and who's the sub-customer? For some of the families I work for, that would be important.
Thank you for following up, onlinetutor.
I'd like to share some information about sub-customers in QuickBooks Online.
Once you create an invoice for the sub-customer and choose to Bill with parent, both their names will appear in the invoice inside QuickBooks.
However, only the sub-customer's name will show in the actual invoice. You can click on Print or Preview to see the details of your invoice.
I've included this link once you're ready to receive invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.
I'm also adding this article if you'd like to create a more personalize sales form for your customers: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
Get back to me if you still have other questions about sub-customers and invoices. I'll keep an eye on your response. Enjoy your weekend.
@onlinetutor , there is only one customer/payor field per invoice. I think that’s the best indicator that quickbooks doesn’t support two customers in one transaction. If the purpose is to send it to both parents, simply add their email addresses in the field intended for it.
Is there a way to input into the invoice of two clients under the parent name? The invoice will only show up on one sub-customer. I cannot add two sub-customers on one invoice for a family with two children. Please make this an option. One payment for a whole family.
Hi there, @Lm123.
Yes, you can have up to four levels deep for your customer's sub-account.
Here's how you can add more:
