Is there a way to remove the lines Approved By and Date from the bottom of purchase orders?

I too vote to have the ability to edit the purchase order.  Removing Approval Signature and Date line should be one of the easier things to accomplish in QBO, but, unfortunately, I am finding several things are not so easy to accomplish in QBO

I agree this cannot be that difficult to change. Although I am seeing lots of answers to people's post about the Purchase Order that are referring to estimates and invoices.

For many of us we cannot sell things unless we get the raw materials to build them.

Quickbook employees. Please stop telling us to turn on import styles from Quickbook Labs.  This does not work on POs.   You can only import styles on Invoices, Estimates, and Sales Receipts.  Quickbooks employees have posted this multiple times in this thread which shows a clear lack of understanding of the product they are trying to support.

Hi @LukeAtWork,

I appreciate you for getting in touch with us about the Purchase order feature. I would feel the same way too in that situation if I'm provided with inaccurate information.

Yes, you're right. Currently, you can only customize the templates for invoices, estimates, and sales receipts. The option to remove the Approved By and Date fields at the bottom is unavailable.

However, there are specific fields or columns you can remove when printing purchase orders (see screenshot below). The basis of the format will be the Master or Standard template under the Custom form styles section.

I recommend checking out the Content tab of the template for the details. Any information you remove from the header or the form will not show when you print the purchase orders.

Please know that I appreciate your input on this feature. We always update the features in QuickBooks, and this preference might be added in the future. As we assess this, I suggest you visit our QuickBooks Blog to stay updated with all the changes that are being made.

Additionally, I recommend visiting the following article to learn how to update the status of a purchase order in QuickBooks: Create and send purchase orders in QuickBooks Online.

Drop me a comment below if you have any other questions about purchase orders. I'll be more than happy to help. Wishing you a good one.

Is there a way to remove the lines Approved By and Date from the bottom of purchase orders?

I can't use purchase orders with an Approved by and Date on it. I don't want to print it out and scan it. The whole point Is that I want to be able to send it electronically from QBO.

Even if I could have it default to a name and a date would be better than a BLANK approved by and BLANK date. Blank suggests that it has not been approved and needs to be!

Please raise this with your developers, it's been outstanding for 2 years!  The PO process in QBO doesn't work properly.

Don't suggest Custom forms as this DOES NOT cover the approved by and date on a Purchase order!

Let's make sure that we'll be able to pass the Purchase Order (PO) concern to our developers, RoscoPC.

I know how this will greatly benefit your business. You can use this link: http://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/ to submit feedback to our developers by clicking the Give feedback link. I've added this screenshot for your guide:

You may also want to check out other feedbacks being submitted and vote for them for more chances of implementing it.

For your reference, you can also record expenses by entering them as bills. Go through this article for more information: Enter Bills And Record Bill Payments in QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if you have any questions about PO. As always, we're here to make sure you get the help you need.

Yes!   I agree, this is long pass overdue.  Further, the Purchase Order should have a field that pulls your account number with the Vendor.  QB Online fails at this basic bookkeeping need!

Interesting how people again and again are asking to remove the stupid approved by and date lines from the purchase order and QB still hasn't done sh*t. Seriously, how difficult can it be? Which genius thought it would be a good idea to include a approved by and date line, without giving people the option to approve in QB? No one prints, signs and uses a fax anymore. It's 2021. HELLO!!! Maybe you should listen to your customers who've been asking for PO customization for years? I don't know, it's just a thought.....

PS: Please don't waste my time with another stupid response, and spend your time working on the solution instead.

Hello QBO team, This is 2022 and from what I can see there is still no way to remove the approve by and date field from the QBO purchase order.

Hello, Carronade.

We hear you, and we're continuously improving to enhance our customer's experience program features while using QuickBooks. Though, as of this moment, removing the approved by and date field from the QBO purchase order is still unavailable. I can see how this option would be helpful for you and your business.

I'm going to submit your idea to our Development team. This will allow the developers to consider the report for future QuickBooks updates. You can also send Feedback yourself by following the steps below:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
  2. Enter your feedback Suggestion.
  3. Press Next

We always take your feedback into consideration when updating the product.

The more request this gets, the more likely it'll be part of future enhancements. We always value customers who are keen to give us their feedback. I’ll be sure to follow-up on this matter with our managerial team. This way, they could come up with the appropriate course of action to improve QuickBooks as soon as possible.

I appreciate your patience as we work through this. If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. I'll be around to help you out. Stay safe!

Is there a way to remove the lines Approved By and Date from the bottom of purchase orders?

We are all frustrated because we don't want to change the header we want to be able to edit a PO template.  The make things worse it has been 4 years and Quickbooks is still forcing an insanely stupid field on POs.

I also think I am so frustrated because of the sheer idiocy of the "Approved By" and "Date" field, everytime I have to delete it out of the PDF it reminds me how dumb this is.  What is the point of these fields on a digital form that gets sent to a vendor digitally?  None of the POs we send are signed and none of the POs we receive from customers are signed, it is not in most companies standard workflow.  Who thought this was a good idea?  Was someone like you know what POs need, two hand written fields to confuse vendors and annoy our customers, perfect!  Quickbooks prides itself in being a digital platform where everything is done digitally so why in the world is the template designed with fields that require printing out a PO, signing it, then scanning it.  It defies logic.  I understand certain changes require a lot of back end code to fix but surely it can not be that hard to code a checkbox in the settings to turn off this stupidity.  Come on peoples, QB should be better than this.

I agree with Luke's most recent post on this matter. It is hard to believe that the text is so deeply embedded in the code of the Purchase order form that it cannot be removed. I don't understand the logic behind having the fields on the form in the first place. Normal fields are missing and this nonsense is here. So if and when it gets to a real battle of the forms with a supplier, anyone who has received this and has not signed it and sent it back can simply say I didn't accept your PO?

I created an entry on the feedback page for Quickbooks online.  I don't have high hopes after seeing this has not been addressed for 4 years but here is a petition to fix this if anyone else wants to vote on it.

Hello from 2022...  I can not believe it is 4 YEARS after this was brought to @QuickBooksHelp  @QuickBooksAppSupport attention.  How can you have a Purchase Order feature that sends an unapproved PO to our vendors?!  Do you really think this makes a company look professional?  Why hasn't this been put on the Quickbooks Online required feature list?

Please send an internal email to the Intuit Product Owner for Quickbooks Online.

I'm on the 30 day trial and also was trying to figure out how to remove Approved By and Date from the purchase orders template. Reading through this thread I can't believe this is still an issue 4 years later. My 30 day trial began yesterday so let's see if this fix can be implemented in the next 29 days!

Hello from 4 years later, these ridiculous hand written fields are still on the Purchase Order.  A digital workflow is no place for hand written fields.  Quickbooks, this can't be a hard thing to fix.  Why have you done nothing to add an option to remove this nonsense?  We send about 1000 POs a year and this is infuriating at this point.

My workaround is to cover up that section by creating a big white square on top of it and then saving as a pdf. It shouldn’t have to be that way…

Hello there, LukeAtWork.

Giving you an option to remove the unnecessary part of the PO form is important for you and your business. However, I'm unable to share when this option will be available. For now, the workaround shared by ccjapan can help us eliminate the Approved by and Date features.

Also, we can look for a third-party application that helps us send your POs without them. We can find the right apps for your business using our website:

  1. Go to this link: QuickBooks Apps.
  2. You can select a specific category under the Categories section.
  3. Then, make sure to review the key benefits and FAQs.
  4. Once done, click the Get app now button.

I see how helpful this option would be. Still, I recommend sending this feedback to our Product Development team and sharing your insights about this. Go to the Gear icon> Feedback. If you've sent this feedback before, we can follow the steps below to check the votes added to your product suggestion.  Here's how:

  1. Go to this link: Feature Request.
  2. In the Search field, enter the request you added before.
  3. Click the Search icon or press Enter on your keyboard.
  4. Find the appropriate request you submitted and open it by clicking the statement.
  5. You'll then see the number of votes on the left side. See the sample screenshot below.

We closely monitor feedback submissions and consider them. The more feedback, the bigger the chance this will be implemented.

Also, we can visit this article to learn about adding purchase orders to other transactions: Learn how to add an accepted purchase order to a transaction for your vendor.

If you have more questions about PO and other concerns while doing QuickBooks tasks, please post them here. The Community always got your back.

Is there a way to remove the lines Approved By and Date from the bottom of purchase orders?

SarahannC,

1) Third party apps will not work.  I wrote my own app for this but QuickBooks API does not allow access to all of QuickBooks Advanced custom fields so no third party app will be able to make a PO for QuickBooks advanced users who use the custom fields feature.  This is a problem on the QB developer side that also has not been fixed for 4 years.  QuickBooks has abandoned development on purchase orders.

2)  It truly feels the provide feedback feature is just to give the illusion someone cares at QB because people have been asking for this simple change for 4 years and it has been ignored.  QB used to have a feature request board where you could upvote feature requests others have submitted.  I never saw any of the highly voted feature requests implemented and likely why they removed that board.

3) Drawing a white box over these fields on the PDF does work but QuickBooks making us do that instead of fixing the problem is a terrible customer experience.  I guess QB has the luxury of not caring when they have little competition.

Yes, or you can buy Adobe and edit out what you don't need.  It is ridiculous that Intuit cannot fix this.  Do you remember when customer service was "a thing" that everyone strived for?

So hundreds of Customers have complained about this for years and the answer from QB EMPL's is still, Customer please reach out to someone else at QB to report this impossible to fix issue.

If posting here is not feedback, what is? Oh wait, see below.
