Issue creating statements to email

It is beyond frustrating that you were asking for something other than the cookie cutter support response, but what you got was the exact same as others - paraphrasing: We sincerely understand this is a ridiculous problem we have manufactured for "trust me bro, good reasons", but let's give you no real options to avoid wanting to jump off a building whenever you need to print those statements that have always printed just fine for you in the past.

My group updated to 24 a couple days ago (and applied the latest patches last night). We had no idea we were stepping off into a product that has been either intentionally broken or woefully mismanaged. Either way, NOT GOOD.

Intuit needs to do one or more of the following:

  • Fix the filtering to happen before customer selection limit check
  • Give customers the option to accept the risk and disable
  • Remove the limit
  • Provide better search (ie: wildcards) and grouping options for customer selection filtering

In addition, they need to do proper QA and regression testing from now on

Issue creating statements to email

                                    Warning

Quickbooks encountered errors while attempting to create statement.

This may be because of selecting too many customers.

Try reducing the number of customers selected (Max of 4500)

and create statements.

I have selected:  All customers

Do not create statements:

  with zero balance

with a balance less than 1.00

  with no activity

  for inactive customers

With these filters I would have 105 customers with statements to print.  So I am certainly not over the 4500.

Issue creating statements to email

Thank you for following up on this thread, BisHeat.

I want to make sure you're able to create statements without the error appearing in your QuickBooks Desktop account.

In this instance, I recommend reaching out to a member of the QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. Agents have specialized tools, like the ability to share your screen, to take a more in depth look at what's causing this issue. They'll also be able to get the problem escalated if need be. Here's how to get in touch with the team:

1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
2. Select Contact Us.
3. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
4. Sign in to your Intuit account and select Continue and then Continue with my account.
5. We'll email you a single use code. Enter your code and select Continue. (If you have more than one account, select the account you want to use and then Continue.)
6. Select to chat with us or have us call you.

The following article provides these steps if you ever need them again in the future: Contact QuickBooks Desktop

Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help in any way that I can.

I did talk with them yesterday.  I spent over an hour on the phone and they do not have an answer for this other than picking the customers manually.  I see that there are many comments about this issue and I was hoping that somebody found a better way to go about this task.

We have been having the same issue. If there is a fix, please let us all know so we can go back to creating statements the normal way. This is so frustrating.

I comprehend how important it is for you to resolve this situation, @jessicakm.

The warning message is designed to appear when you reach 4500 selected customers. You may consider creating statements in smaller chunks or manually selecting customers to help avoid problems.

If you haven't reached the maximum limit and the issue still occurs, I recommend installing QuickBooks Tool hub and running the Quick Fix my Program utility to resolve common errors.

If you've already done this, I highly recommend contacting our Technical Support Team to create a thorough investigation and find a fix immediately, as they have the tools to pull up your account in a safe and secure environment.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Help and select Contact Us.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then click Continue.
  4. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.

Visit the article to learn more about using the Create Statement feature: How to send statements to your customers

In addition, I'll be attaching this link to guide you to the different ways you can track a customer's transactions: Customer transaction workflows.

Keep us updated if you have any other questions about creating a statement. I'm always here to help. Take care.

@MichaelaS , @Kevin_C, @MadelynC, @LeizylM, @MirriamM, @QueenC, WSheandL, @Kurt_M, @ShanianmarieC, @MorganB   STOP THE HORRID COPY PASTE RESPONSES, YOU ARE WASTING PEOPLE'S VALUABLE TIME

The BUG in QB has been clearly identified, even if QB is not willing to acknowledge it.

QB put in a customer limit block without providing a proper way to disable, or filter around it, to properly handle a handful of statements when you have a "lot" of total customers (not just active or those that have unpaid invoices).

There are several customer/user responses (including mine) in this and other related posts, which clearly showcase the problem and how to fix it.

At this point, it seems that QB is extremely ignorant, incompetent, and/or intentionally trying to force non-small companies to go to some product other than QB (threshold of 4500 all time customers).

It is highly suspect that there are so many of the same zero-thought copy/paste messages from all these different (EMPL or MOD) user handles, with all of them either incompetently or maliciously avoiding addressing what has been discovered by we customers in our own testing.

I ran into a similar problem today.  When I try to email statements I get a message that says "Warning. Mothing to print. No statements were created. there are no outstanding invoices. credit memos for the date range you selected." This is clearly false.  If I choose to "print" the statements it generates 22 statements for customers with a balance. It is only when I choose to "email" the statements that I get this message. I have been emailing statements from QBDT for many years and never had this issue.  I think that Intuit wants to force us to switch to the online version so they are letting the DT version go to pots.

Thanks for raising your concern about the error when emailing customer statements. I can see the importance of being able to still use a time-saving feature in QuickBooks, RichieH1.

I tried this on my company file and the Email button is still working.

Since you've already identified that the error message only appears after clicking a specific button, I would recommend using the QuickBooks Tool Hub.

The QuickBooks Tool Hub is designed to resolve many common errors and unexpected results when working in the QuickBooks program. Let me walk you through how to use it:

  1. Close QuickBooks and download the most recent version (1.6.0.5) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). You can look it up in your Downloads folder or in the location you selected when you downloaded it.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. Once opened, look for Program Problems, then select Quick Fix my Program.
  6. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

After running the troubleshooting steps, check if you can no longer see the error message when trying to email the customer statements.

In addition, I have a couple of articles to share with you, in case you need more information and resources when creating this type of transaction:

Please let me know if you have any other questions when using the Tool Hub and sending out customer-related transactions. I'd be happy to provide further assistance to help you get back on track.
