Please how can I get Item Group Inventory and Sales Reports.
I created individual inventory items and used this individual items to create a group since most of the inventory items are sold in a group.
Now at the end of the month, I want to have sales report by those groups but cannot find it. It gives me the reports only for Individual items. Kindly assist.
A group is a nickname for a group of parts sold at one time, there is no sales information on groups.
But as a work around, you can create a non inventory item with zero cost, and include it in the group, then you can get sales reports on that item which will correlate to the group sales
Anyway to request a report of this sort? I would love to be able to quickly run a report on how many of each group I sold
Hello, Lise461.
I'd like to share some info about your concern.
At the moment, we're unable to run a specific report for the grouped items. However, you can open any inventory report and manually export it to Excel. Then, modify the report to get the information you need.
Here's how:
For reference, you can read this article: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have more questions related to the reports or need help with other concerns, please feel free to get back to me by leaving a reply on this thread. Take care and stay safe.
I don't believe that solves anything. I regularly run reports, export to excel and massage them.
I want to run a report at the end of each week/month/year that will say:
Group named Baby basket 1 = 10 sold
group named get well 1 = 15 sold.
As far as I have been able to tell, there is no report that will show me how many of any GROUP of items I have sold. I can see how many baby bibs I have sold - but if I have 3 different baby basket groups, I cannot see how many of each separate group I have sold. If I have baby bibs in each basket, it does me no good to simply know that I have sold 9 bibs - I want to know which grouping of baby items sells best.
Does that make sense?
Thanks for joining in this conversation, @Lise461. I understand you'll want to organize your group inventories to show which item sells best.
Your idea is brilliant, and I'll make sure this will get to our developers for consideration on future enhancements. I'd suggest you also submit a feedback to our team.
Here's how:
Feel free to message again if you have additional concerns about inventory. Take care always.
Done! Thank you. Been wanting a report like this for years.
Is there any update on this type of report or a workaround?
I appreciate you replying to the thread, JAVID. I'm here to share some updates and a workaround for this.
Currently, there isn't any notification about the availability of the feature. The option to track which inventories sell best is still unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. I certainly understand how this ability could be useful when running your business. I recommend providing feedback to help our engineers enhance your experience when using the software. Here's how:
Your ideas are valuable to Intuit. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by exploring Intuit's Product Updates webpage.
Alternatively, you can run and customize the Sales by Item Detail report to display the number of items sold. This will then allow you to get your desired information. Let me walk you through the steps:
You'll also want to make edits to your items, feel free to read this for more details: Adjust your inventory quantity or value in QuickBooks Desktop.
I'll be around to assist further. You can reach us if you need extra guidance. Stay safe always!
Do not bother sending feedback to Intuit. It falls on deaf ears.
They only care about increasing revenue and are not concerned with addressing customer needs.
How do I know this? We have been asking to see more than 5 lines in the Group Item editor for almost 20 years. TWENTY!!! Groups are the ugly step-child of Quickbooks. They are unsupported.
We use them because we need to track serial numbers of the items in the Group individually. That is lost in creating an Assembly. We track Group sales in a similar manner as suggested above. We have a Line Item with the price in the Group and then do reports on the Line Item.
We have to pay a 3rd party (QQube) to create our Work Orders because we don't want the client seeing every single item in the Group. It's absurd. But again, 20 years of suggesting has achieved nothing.
