Job Profitability Reporting - Way to bill more than one client in General Ledger?

We do not run payroll through QB, however, I can interface and upload my payroll iif file by department.  For my job profitability report to show both cost and revenue, my only option is to open the general ledger and mark that employee as billable, select a client from the name column and generate an invoice.  However, if that employee worked at more than one jobsite that day, I'm unable to select more than one name to bill.  Weekly time sheets or single activity always results in $0 cost.  I can only see cost if I bill from the general ledger side.  Any thoughts on how I can make this work?  Thanks!

Job Profitability Reporting - Way to bill more than one client in General Ledger?

Thank you for reaching out to us here on the Community page, @MintyBoo.

I'm here to share information about the closing of books in QuickBooks Desktop and running the general ledger report.

There are lots of possible reasons why there are differences in your report. A couple of these are the date range covered and the accounting method used. For now,  review the From and To dates and the report's basis for each ledger you've printed.

On the other hand, QuickBooks allows users to close their books monthly. If you want to close your books at the end of each month, you have to set the date from the Preferences.

Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), then select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  2. Click on Accounting on the left pane, then go to the Company Preferences column.
  3. Tap on the Set Date/Password tab under the Closing date, then set a closing date (end of the month) from the field provided.
  4. Hit OK.

Job Profitability Reporting - Way to bill more than one client in General Ledger?

Thank you for trying to help.  Unfortunately, your response doesn't relate to what I'm trying to do.  QB provided me a phone number to call today.  I'm hoping this helps me solve my problem.

Thanks again!
