Linking pos department to quickbooks account

I'm not clear about how departments in POS send data to specific accounts in QB. More specifically, I am interested in a creating a new POS department and linking it to a new account (to be added to the QB Chart of Accounts). Conversely, can the Chart of Accounts be copied into POS to link back?

All help appreciated.

Linking pos department to quickbooks account

Glad to see you here, whattrash.

Regarding your question about copying the Chart of Accounts into POS to link back, the answer is, you can import the Chart of Accounts (COA) instead.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your company file as Administrator.
  2. Switch to single-user mode.
  3. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  4. Select Import, then IIF Files.
  5. Import the Chart of Accounts.

Here's an article for activities you can do with IIF files in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT): Tasks you can do with IIF files

If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO), follow the steps on how this article: Import your chart of accounts to QuickBooks Online
