Messed up transaction upload to incorrect date. Can't edit date.

I recently uploaded a transaction, and I'm trying to match it to my invoices. However, the transaction uploads with a 1969 date and I can't edit.

What did you do to the software? You are really pissing me off.

Modifying the date of your bank transactions is an essential part of ensuring accuracy in your records, Vasquez. I'd like to inform you that there's a way to do this in QuickBooks Online (QBO), and I'm here to show you how.

After uploading your bank transactions, it will go under the For Review tab so you can categorize or match it. To edit the date, you'll have to enable the Editable date field option in the bank feeds.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions and click Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the bank account and navigate to the For Review tab.
  3. Click the Gear icon and put a checkmark beside the Editable date field option.

Moving forward, you'll want to ensure that the date format of your CSV file is accurate. Learn more by reading this article: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

Additionally, I recommend regularly reconciling your QBO accounts with your actual bank statements to ensure they align accurately.

Just leave your questions below if you need clarification about managing your bank transactions. The Community is available anytime to provide additional details. Stay safe.

The advice does not work. Even after doing what you mention, the dates don't change and match to 1969.

THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR SOFTWARE!!

Messed up transaction upload to incorrect date. Can't edit date.

Hi there, Vasquez.

Thank you for your efforts following the solution provided by my colleague JaeAnnC. I can help by adding more details on how to adjust the date. It seems there could be a setting problem causing the transactions to upload with the incorrect date of 1969 and preventing you from editing them.

I've attached a screenshots to enhance your understanding.

If you still encountering an issue with a transaction date that cannot be edited directly in QuickBooks Online, you can delete or exclude it. From your CSV file correct the date and upload it again.

Messed up transaction upload to incorrect date. Can't edit date.

I am having the same issue with the 1969 date on almost 500 imported transactions. While I am able to change the date, is there a way to do it in batches?? as it is taking me forever to do each one individually.

Thanks for joining this thread, @SELawton. Currently, changing the date of your imported transactions in batch in QuickBooks Online (QBO) isn't possible. As a workaround, you can edit them individually, like what you did, or delete and reimport them with the correct date and information.

In the meantime, I recommend submitting direct feedback to our Product Development Team and raising your feature suggestion. This way, they can discuss this and see if it can improve our user's experience in QBO. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon,
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Type your feature suggestions. Once done, choose Next to send feedback.

To further guide you in editing transactions, check out this article: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers in QuickBooks Online.

If you wish to learn how to categorize your bank transactions after uploading them in QBO automatically, you can read this article: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have additional questions about correcting and importing bank transactions. We'll be willing to respond as soon as possible. Take care, and have a good day.
