I have severa issues with the built-in mileage tracking feature in Quickbooks SE.
(1) Is there a way to label the purpose of separate miles driven for purposes of drives because they are re-imbursed at different rates? I know that the reimbursement rates for business are $0.585 per mile for business but are different for volunteer work and medical appointments. The way I label things now is to add at the beginning of the desciption for each business description, such as "volunteer," "medical," and the types of businesses in which I work ("home health", "pet care") so that I can search for each to add up the miles separately if I need to.
(2) I have a problem with "mystey drives" showing up when I am walking around one location. For example, this morning I arrived at a client's home and I have been here all day. Yet, mileage tracking has added 4 mystery drives to today's itinerary, raning from 0.71 miles to 3.2 miles. I have not driven anywhere and my phone is resting on the dining room table. Yet, mileage tracking thinks that I am driving around the neighborhood. I have checked all the tracking settings and theya are all set.
(3) Perhaps this is a problem with Google Maps' accuracy or limitation with GPS accuracy. For example, when I park in my own driveway, Google Maps will sometimes say that I am across the street, down the block, or on the next street. Ditto for many clients' addresses. So for the above #2 example, even though I am in one location, mileage tracking has me at several streets away at random times, which might explain why it thinks that I am driving.

There's a great app called Everlance (https://www.everlance.com/) that's free and does basically everything you're looking for.
It's much more sophisticated than the current mile tracking features in QB.
You can export a detailed report that lists all the different miles drivers, from and to where, and for what purpose.
I appreciate you for posting here in the Community, @Patientx2.
I can see how the workflow you're looking for is beneficial to your business. Right now, the only way to track the purpose of separate miles driven is by adding notes through the description (see screenshot below).
For your second question, I suggest you perform some basic troubleshooting for the app. I've checked here, and I haven't found any reported issues similar to yours.
