Missing Class Assignment Field on Products/Services in QBO Sandbox After Enabling Class Tracking

We are unable to see the Class dropdown at the item (product/service) level, even after enabling class tracking as per QuickBooks documentation.

Steps Taken:

  1. Enabled class tracking via
Gear > Account and Settings > Advanced > Categories
  2. Turned Track classes = ON
  3. Set class tracking to “One to each row in transaction”
  4. Signed out and signed back in
  5. Cleared browser cache
  6. Tried accessing QuickBooks in incognito/private mode
  7. Navigated to
Setting Gear> Products and Services > Edit item

Observed Behavior:

  • The Class dropdown does not appear on the Product/Service edit screen.
  • No option is available to assign a class at the item level.

Expected Behavior:

Please advise:

  • Whether item-level class assignment is supported for our QuickBooks version/region
  • If any additional settings or permissions are required
  • Or if this is a known limitation or bug

Thank you.

Missing Class Assignment Field on Products/Services in QBO Sandbox After Enabling Class Tracking

Hello, Saurabh. Thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot this issue.

After enabling the Class Tracking feature by clicking the Save and then Done button, the Class field will automatically appear when adding or editing an item in the US version of QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Additionally, no additional permissions are necessary after this feature is enabled.

I confirm this by logging into the QBO Plus account. Please refer to the screenshot below for guidance:
