One Combined Report for Unbilled Time, Expenses & Items

I'm searching for a report that combines unbilled time, expenses and items?  Does this exist or can you help customize one?

One Combined Report for Unbilled Time, Expenses & Items

Good evening, @KR Jones

You can customize almost all reports in QuickBooks Desktop. I'd like to help you to find one that fits all your needs.

What we could do is find a report for each: Unbilled Time, Expenses, and Items. Once we find the reports, then we can export them into Excel and make it into one report.

To better assist you, I'd like to ask a couple of questions:

  • What type of expenses are you needing for the report?
  • What type of items are you needing for the report?

If you leave me a Reply with more details, I can assist you further! In the meantime, here's a couple of Community Articles that you may find helpful:

I'll keep an eye out for your response. Talk to you soon!

One Combined Report for Unbilled Time, Expenses & Items

I understand that we can do separate reports but I need just one.

I want to run it  weekly for all accounts on all the unbilled TIME, EXPENSES, and ITEMS that are in the pop-up window for CHOOSE BILLABLE TIMES & COSTS when creating an invoice.  We currently do not bill out Mileage so I don't need that .

Thanks!

One Combined Report for Unbilled Time, Expenses & Items

Thanks for getting back in touch, @KR Jones.

At the moment, there isn't a way to combine unbilled time, expenses, and times into one report at the moment. I know that this is an important feature for you and your business, so I'll forward this idea to our Product Development Team for possible implementation in future releases. In the meantime, you'll need to use my colleague's suggestion above.

I also recommend keeping an eye out on our blog for the latest news on product releases.

Let me know if you have any other questions by hitting Reply below. I'm here as your number one resource for QuickBooks Desktop.

Has this been done yet?  We too work off that information and would like to have as one report. This really needs to be done.

One Combined Report for Unbilled Time, Expenses & Items

Hi there, KJStill.

QuickBooks Desktop offers predefined reports that you can use. However, the option that you're looking for in one report is currently unavailable. If you need to run on all accounts on all the unbilled time, expenses, and items, then we can run the Transaction Details by Account. From there, we can customize the report o multiple accounts, transaction types, and items. Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports on the top menu.
  2. Choose Accountant & Taxes.
  3. Select Transaction Detail by Account.
  4. Click Customize report. Then, Filters.
  5. Choose Transaction TypeItem, and Account. Then, select them on the list on each field.
  6. Press OK then OK

Also, you might want to export each report into an Excel file and merge it into one Excel workbook. This way, you can gather the data that you need for the report. I know that pulling your desired report can help you run your business easier. I'd encourage you to send this preference to our developers. They are continuously considering new features to be added to the system and help improve your customer experience. To do that:

  1. Click on Help at the top.
  2. Select on Send Feedback Online.
  3. Choose Product Suggestion.
  4. Enter your request.
  5. Click on Send Feedback.

For your reference, I'm also adding here an article that will give you more details about how QuickBooks generates reports and what reports that you can pull up in QBDT: How QuickBooks generates reports. Let me also share these great resources for additional reference:

I'd be pleased to assist you if there's anything else you need with reports or any QuickBooks-related thing. Keep safe!
