POS Customer reports by payment type

In Point of Sale, I'm trying to export a customers sales history to Excel so that the data can be deeply analyzed. 

We allow customers and employees to have an account on the books of items that they still need to pay for. One customer would like to find out why he owes what he owes. To do so, we need to be able to reconcile his account. The POS allows us to print the history or save it as a pdf. Neither will then import to Excel so that we can reconcile the account.

Is there something that I am missing or does POS not allow the customer history to be sent to Excel?

Thanks for posting your concern in the Community. If you're trying to move over or export customer account history to Excel, you can pull up the Customer Sales report instead, then export it to Excel. 


Let me show you how: 


  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Customers, then choose Customer Sales
  3. Customize the date in the Date drop-down list of your report. You can even customize it to show the specific detail of your report. 


From there, you can click the Excel arrow icon to export your report. See illustration below:

One problem is that you can't filter the information by payment type (Account).Report Options.jpg


The information I need can be found in the Customer List report:InkedD Listing_LI.jpg When I click on the name I get the Edit Customer window:InkedD History_LI.jpg


This is the information I need to work with but, from here I cannot figure out how to export the information shown on the screen. If I click the "I Want To" button and the export to Excel, I get:InkedD Export_LI.jpg


And if I try to highlight and copy paste, I get the item list screen.

You're right, the option to filter the information by payment type (Account) isn't available in the Customer Sales report. However, we can use the Payment Summary report to view the payment type in QuickBooks Point of Sales (POS). Let me show you how:

  1. Click the All reports menu.
  2. In the Payments section, select Payment Summary.
  3. Click Modify and select Add or Remove Columns.
  4. Check the payment type that you want to be included in the report.
  5. Select Save.
