Print Chart of Accounts

Hi there, @bob.

Printing a chart of accounts in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is easy peasy. I'd be happy to guide you through the steps.

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. Go to the List menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  3. From the Account drop-down, select Print List.Capture.PNG
  4. Review the print settings.
  5. Click Print.

Just in case you encounter issues when printing the chart of accounts, you can check out this article to learn how to fix it: Fix printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Come back to this post if you have other concerns or follow-up questions about printing the chart of accounts in QBDT. I'll be around to provide further assistance.

I hadn't noticed the little drop down box "Activities" at the bottom. So accustomed to the selections at the top of the program.  I was successful and I thank you very much as it really was a simple process.

How can I get the sub-accounts to print? When I follow these steps outlined in this article (Reports/Lists/List of Accounts), it does not show me the sub-accounts, only the parent accounts.

Welcome to the Community, Barkley.

Sub-accounts are displayed in QuickBooks with a colon symbol (:) to indicate their connection to a parent account. For example, if the parent account is Insurance, the sub-account might appear as Insurance: Life Insurance. This makes it easy to distinguish between parent accounts and their associated sub-accounts.

To ensure that sub-accounts appear in your reports, you’ll need to customize your Reports properly. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Report section and select List > Account Listing.
  2. Click Customize Report at the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. In the Modify Report: Account Listing window, switch to the Filters tab.
  4. Under Filters, select Account, then choose All Accounts from the dropdown menu.
  5. Next, go back to the Filters tab, select Active Status, and choose All.
  6. Click OK to apply the changes.

After completing these steps, you should be able to see all parent accounts, sub-accounts, and their status in the Account Listing report.
