Product Cost, Mark-up and Profit/Margin Report

Hello, LM in CA.

I understand how important it is for you to run and customize a report to show the product Cost, Mark-up (differs by product), and Profit/Margin. I'll be able to help you find the data you require.

You'll have to run three different reports to get the information. Then, you compare the amount. You can also export the reports to Excel if you want to combine the information. I'll show you how.

Report 1: Run the profit and loss report.

  1. Go to the Reports menu. Search and select Profit and Loss.
  2. Enter the exact Report period and Accounting method.
  3. From the Display columns by drop-down, select the Products/Services.
  4. Tap Run report.

Report 2: Run the Sales by Product/Service Summary report.

  1. Go to the Reports menu, select the Sales by Product/Service Summary.
  2. Enter the exact Report period and Accounting method.
  3. From the Display columns by drop-down, select the Products/Services.
  4. Tap Run report.

Report 3: Run the Purchases by Product/Service Detail report.

  1. Go to the Reports menu, select the Purchases by Product/Service Detail.
  2. Enter the exact Report period and Accounting method.
  3. From the Row/Column section, select the Products/Services.
  4. Tap Run report.

Once done, you can compare the amount of these three reports. Export the data to Excel and combine it there.

If you require additional assistance with creating, running, and saving financial reports, I also added the following article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have further questions with reports. I'll be around to help you.
