EXACTLY.......I am looking at changing software as QBO is NOT GOOD at accomplishing much at all in the way of asking for improvements, enter your needs and NOTHING gets done. They could care less, just keep the money rolling in and that's the way they like it. Harsh.....yep, true.....yep
Its been 4 years and still no SKU's on emailed/printed PO's.
Its a very simple future coding wise compared to the rest of quickbooks.
Its unacceptable, what percentage of quickbooks users sent purchase orders? I'd assume in retails who stock items it is 100%, that is a lot of users without a simple feature, how many do you think left QUICKBOOKS when finding this? Absolutely nuts that it does not work.
I also brought this up 2-3 years ago and, of course, it went nowhere. BUT, not pay for their service and see how fast they react. Ridiculous
Customizing the Airy template works for Invoices, Estimates and Sales Receipts, but is not an option for purchase orders. In Custom form styles, I can create a New Style for any of the above document types, but not purchase order. This should be so simple for QB to implement. I can do exactly that - adding a SKU column - to any of the above documents, but that does not help the issue. I need this functionality in the Purchase Order document please, right away. I see you people at Intuit have been ignoring this issue for about 9 years now.
I recognize the need to add an SKU column to the purchase order, evanlandry. Let me share some steps to share this innovative idea with our developers.
Please note that the implementation of feature requests depends on the number of user suggestions. You can submit one by following the steps below so our engineers may consider it for future updates.

Here's an article to learn how to copy your items from one to another: Copy an estimate to a purchase order in QuickBooks Online.
If you need to update the amount, refer to this guide: Bill created from purchase order has incorrect or higher amount.
You're always welcome to reply to this thread for additional concerns about purchase orders. I'm available to help you out some more. Stay safe!
Honestly, QBO is not going to add this function because you've been ignoring it for years now. Stop giving us directives to go around it in alternative ways, those do not help us. Just be honest and admit that no one cares and it's not happening. Everyone has been reaching out and quite frankly, we're sick of the pat and dried suggestions for doing something else that doesn't help. We no longer believe you or believe in the product. Changes coming for our company.
Agree 100%. Vendor Part Number was innovative 30 years ago. I'll find another software that handles basic business functions of a wholesale distributor. Oh wait, I already did. See yah.
Could you please let me know as well which software you are switching to as a wholesale distributor? I'd like to switch as well.
I agree with you 100% they will not do that, however they are not forcing people to switch from old layout invoices to new layout invoices. Airy Classic is the only template they offer that has SKU numbers that would print, otherwise no other Template offers SKU numbers. That is such a basic function and they only have 1 template that does that.
You can create any invoices and have Sku number showing on the invoice in all templates, but when you print or save as PDF, you do not have the SKU number showing and that only happens if you switch to the Airy Classic template. Let me know if you have found a work around the templates where you can print the SKU number or save PDF with the SKU # showing up. Curious to know....
actually i just tried the Airy Modern and it does print the SKU not on any other template. However, the headings such as bill to, ship to, ship date, ship via, tracking #, invoice #, date, and terms print so light as compared to the other items that print just fine.
neither Airy nor Airy Classic allow me to show a SKU field/column on a Purchase Order. Did you try a Purchase Order specifically?

Yes you are correct on the PO it does not allow you. The work around is that when you setup your item in inventory, if you go all the way down in item setup, you will see "Purchasing Information" What I do is for example is: (123) [Removed] . So this way when you do purchase order the SKU will pop up as (123) and then the description. Its the only way to show your SKU to put it in the Purchasing Description.
For anyone that missed it I posted this earlier in the conversation.......
As a "workaround" solution
1. Open the "Purchase Order By Detail" report
2. Customise to show the following..... Date / Product / SKU / QTY, plus any other relevant fields needed
3. Group by "None"
4. Filter by supplier
For added filtering you can also filter by PO number.
This report can be saved as a custom report, shows all the required info and can be saved as a PDF to send to suppliers. This can be saved as a custom report.
Its not perfect as its a bit more involved than "Save and Send" but its a better workaround than anything else I found. Hopefully it helps someone.
Other thing is if everyone on the forums emails complaints to oopescalations @ intuit.com something might finally get done (This is head office escalations email in the States) I did it last year and shortly after is when the community ideas was introduced. https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/quickbooks-idea-exchange/idb-p/uk-idea-exchange
Here we are, four years later and still no option to show SKU on purchase orders.
