QB Enterprise Inventory Turnover Report not counting items sold with blank qty

Title says it. Came across an item in the Turnover by Item report that showed 2 sold when I knew 3 had been sold in 2025.

The Item Quick report for the same item shows 0 on hand as of 12/31/2024, 3 purchased 2/25/2025, 1 sold on each 3/3, 8/15, and 11/25 and QOH at 0 as of 12/31/2025 so inventory all tracks correct.

Here's whats interesting, the turnover report said last sell date was 11/25/25 (matching the item quick report), but that particular invoice, i noticed the QTY field was blank. Changed it to 1, saved and closed, and refreshed the turnover report, and now it shows 3 as it should.

How can the same report that said the last sale date was 11/25, not reflect that sale in the report because the qty field was blank instead of 1? Most of what we sell on walk in sales, is not multiple qtys so that field is left blank more than it is filled in. Items that went through the estimate>sales order>Invoice process will have the qty set to 1 automatically if left blank before invoicing so those show up.

How can the report be useful if it isn't counting them? Especially when it said the last sale date was 11/25, is the invoice in question. QB assumes a blank qty is a qty of 1 in every other way...

Since starting to type this, I ran another common part#. 103 sold on quick report, and 73 on the turnover report. So the 30 or so walk in sales didn't get tracked on the turnover report since no QTY filled in on fresh invoice or Daily Sales entry, but QB inventory sees it all correctly. The Turnover Report is not counting blanks as a quantity of 1 for some reason.

QB Enterprise Inventory Turnover Report not counting items sold with blank qty

Hi there, capandhitch2.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for providing such a detailed explanation of the issue you’re encountering with the Inventory Turnover Report.

I understand that the report isn’t counting transactions with blank Qty fields, even though the last sale date is accurate. Since blank Qty fields are common for single-item walk-in sales, I’d be happy to explain what’s happening and how to address it.

The last sale date in the Turnover Report is accurate because it is based on the invoice date. However, the total sales quantities exclude transactions with blank Qty fields because the report relies on explicit quantities for its calculations. This is why those transactions aren’t reflected in the Turnover Report totals.

It’s great to know that you’ve already taken manual steps to update a blank Qty field, and refreshing the report resolved the discrepancy in that case. For future transactions, the Estimate > Sales Order > Invoice process you mentioned works well, as it automatically fills blank Qty fields with "1." Using that workflow whenever possible will help maintain consistency.

For walk-in sales or Daily Sales entries, I recommend entering “1” for single-unit sales to ensure all transactions are included in the Turnover Report totals. Leaving the Qty field blank will continue to cause discrepancies.
