QBO Subcustomer Bill With Parent Field Reporting

Where in QBO can I report on or view a list that includes the Subcustomer Bill with Parent Field? I need to make sure all my 350+ customers are set up with a parent customer, but the Bill with Parent Field is turned off.

QBO Subcustomer Bill With Parent Field Reporting

I'm glad to see you here in the Community, LOA HOA.

For now, viewing a list of customers that includes the sub-customer Bill with Parent Field is unavailable in QuickBooks Online.

As a workaround, we can generate the Transaction List by Customer report. This will show all the transactions associated with parent and sub-customers even if the Bill parent customer field is turned off. See the sample screenshot below.

Here's how to generate the report:

  1. Click Reports in the left panel.
  2. Search for Transaction List by Customer.
  3. Select the report to open it.

I recommend customizing the report to get the specific details you need. You can also memorize it to save its current customization settings. It serves as your record and helps you quickly access it for future use.

This should keep you moving today, LOA HOA. Don't hesitate to let me know if I can be of additional assistance while working in QuickBooks or need more help with sub-customers. I'm always here to keep helping. Have a good one!

QBO Subcustomer Bill With Parent Field Reporting

Thank you for the quick response and great visuals! How can I tell if the Bill Parent Customer is on or off for each of the subcustomers?

QBO Subcustomer Bill With Parent Field Reporting

Thanks for getting back with the Community, LOA HOA User.

You can open each sub-customer's profile and edit them to identify if their Bill parent customer option is turned on or off.

Here's how:

  1. In your left navigation bar, go to Sales, then Customers.
  2. Find and click the customer's display name.
  3. Hit Edit.
  4. Check to see if Bill parent customer is activated or not.

If you need to perform any changes, make them, then select Save.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with customers which may come in handy moving forward: Manage customers

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a lovely day!

QBO Subcustomer Bill With Parent Field Reporting

ZackE - thank you but not helpful. I have over 350 customers so simply need a report that has that field available to include. I noticed you are an employee - is there a way to submit a request to have that field added as an option on one of the existing customer listing reports? It's a critical driver of many pieces of functionality (like statements, invoicing, etc) so not having the ability to see that field on a customer listing is a little hard to imagine. Attached is a print screen showing all the available fields in the Customer Listing report - you would think it would be included in this fairly comprehensive list. Do you have the ability to enter a development ticket - or what is the process for that to occur?
