Report on Customer Credit Memos and Invoicex

Hi! I’m trying to run a report where I can see all credit memos for each client and see which invoices those credit memos were applied to. Any help is greatly appreciated

Report on Customer Credit Memos and Invoicex

Let me help you run the report you need for customer credit memos and invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Justine89.

 

We can pull up the Transaction List by Customer report and customize it to show all the credit memos and invoices for each client. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Reports on the left side menu.
  2. Enter Transaction List by Customer in the search field.
  3. Tap the Switch to classic view tab.
  4. Click Customize.
  5. Hit the arrow next to Filter.
  6. Click the Transaction Type drop-down arrow, then choose Credit Memo and Invoice. 
  7. Press Run report.

If you need to see all transactions the credit memo is used for. Let’s open the sales entry one at a time and click the payment made link to see the complete details. Let me guide you on how: 

 

  1. Navigate to the Sales menu on the left panel and select All Sales.
  2. This will take you to the Sales Transactions page.
  3. Click the Filter drop-down to sort the information.
  4. Choose Credit memos from the Type drop-down
  5. Enter the correct period in the Date field.
  6. Press the Apply button for the changes to take effect.
  7. From the list, click the credit memo you’re working on to open the transaction details.
  8. In the PAID section, press the 1 payment made link and the date to show the Receive Payment page.
  9. Go to the Outstanding Transactions section and check the entries from there.

We can also run the Invoices and Received Payments report to show the mentioned details. Here's how:

 

  1. Click the Reports tab.
  2. Enter and select Invoices and Received Payments.
  3. Click the Customize button.
  4. On the Row/Column section, select Num and Amount.
  5. Hit Run report.

Yes, we can pull up parts one and two of the report showing credit memos for each client and which invoices they were applied to, Justin. 

 

To pull up part one of the report that displays the credit memos for your customers, we can follow the steps provided by collegeau RCV above.

 

For part two of the report, we can generate the Invoice and Received Payments report, which allows us to review the credit memos applied to each invoice.  

 

Here's how: 
 

  1. Go to the Reports page. 
  2. From the Find report by name area, search for Invoice and Received Payments report. 
  3. Filter the necessary information. 
  4. Click Run report
