I am looking for a trial balance I can run monthly that will have the beginning balance for each account, then a column for total debits for the month, total credits for the month and then a column for the ending balance for each account.

I'll be happy to help share how you're able to run a trial balance, @jacobs1779.

 

You can pull up and customize a transaction detail of your report to see the list of accounts with beginning and closing balances. I'll show you how.

 

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Enter Trial Balance in the Search address.
  3. Open your Trial Balance report by clicking the name suggestion.
  4. Under the Report period menu, select the date that'll reflect the closing balance of your account.
  5. Select Run report.
  6. Click the amount for each account to view the list of beginning and closing balances.

 

From here, the deposit at the top is your beginning balance and the total amount shown at the bottom of your transaction list is the account's closing balance.

Thanks for the advice.

 

But I am looking for a report that will show the information as follows:

 

Account                 Beg Bal               Debits                  Credits                Ending Bal

1020 Cash             500,000              250,000               50,000                 700,000

1101  A/R                 25,000                50,000               25,000                   50,000       

 

And I would like this for every account in the trial balance.

I'd like to share a report that includes the information you're looking for.

 

You can run the Transaction Detail by Account and customize the columns by following these steps:

 

  1. Go to Reports on the left panel.
  2. Type Transaction Detail by Account in the search field.
  3. Select the Report period and click the Customize button.
  4. In the Rows/Columns section, remove the columns you don't want to include by un-checking their boxes.
  5. Put a check mark on the Account, Open Balance, Debit, Credit, and Balance boxes.
  6. Hit Run report.
