Sales by Customer Summary - Summary ... Missing Customer

I created a report for "Sales by Customer Summary - Summary", and for some reason one customer isn't included in the report. I've check all parameters. The customer is marked "Active."

The customer shows up in the "Detail" view, but not the "Summary" view.

Sales by Customer Summary - Summary ... Missing Customer

Glad you've found your way to the Community, armcomdes.

I'm here to lend a hand in getting those missing transactions appear on your Sales by Customer Summary report.

Let's make sure you use the correct accounting method and dates when running the Sales by Customer Summary report.

If it's not the case, we can detect if there are any issues in your QuickBooks company file. Let's try running the Verify and Rebuild tool in QuickBooks Desktop. Before we begin, you'll have to secure a backup of your company file.

Here are the steps on how to verify and rebuild your QuickBooks:

To Verify:

  1. Click File at the top menu.
  2. Go to Utilities.
  3. Select Verify.

To Rebuild:

  1. Click File at the top menu.
  2. Go to Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild.

Let me know how things go once you've tried the steps above. I'll be right here if you need more help with running reports in QuickBooks.

Sales by Customer Summary - Summary ... Missing Customer

"Verify" alerted me to rebuild. First attempt to "rebuild" failed. Second attempt worked. All is working and the missing client shows up on all reports.

Thank you.

"Verify" told me to rebuild. First "Rebuild" didn't work. Second rebuild worked. The missing customer shows up expectedly now.

Sales by Customer Summary - Summary ... Missing Customer

Im currently having the same issue. Ive rebuilt twice but client is still not on my sales by customer summary report. Ive confirmed that clients info and receipts are correct. This worries me in that there can be more than one person not included on my report. Any idea what else I can try.

Thanks for chiming in this thread, Ladydi_di.

If you see the client on other reports, we can try to customize the Sales by Customer Summary to ensure the client is included.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports > Sales > Sales by Customer Summary.
  2. Click the Customize button located in the upper left.
  3. Select the Filters tab and type Name in the search field.
  4. From the Name drop-down, choose All names.
  5. Hit OK.

Please see this sample screenshot for a visual reference:

I'm also adding this article for more customization: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop. To view other guides and tutorials, feel free to visit our general help topics page.

Otherwise, contact our Customer Care Team since you've already done the Verify and Rebuild Data. They can pull up your account and investigate what's causing the client not to show up on a specific report.

Here are the steps:

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop program, go to Help QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question window, click the Contact Us link at the bottom.
  3. From the Contact Us page, select any topics.
  4. Under Here's how to connect with a QuickBooks expert section, click the Start a Message or Get Phone Number button.

You can always get back here if you have any additional questions or other concerns with QuickBooks Desktop. I'll be around to help. Take care and stay safe.
