Sales By Item Summary

Is there any documentation on how/what data is pulled for the Sales By Item Summary?
I'm working on a dashboard for my company using Zoho Analytics connector. The sync is working properly but when comparing the results from the two data sets there are some minor discrepancies.

Sales By Item Summary

Thanks for checking in with us, Clovelace.

The Sales by Item Summary will tell you how many of each item or service you have sold, the total dollar sales, and the profitability of each product or service. If the discrepancy is coming from QuickBooks Desktop, we can try running the Sales By Item Summary report again and compare it with the data in the Zoho Analytics Connector app. Then, confirm that the reports have the same date range and basis. Here's how:

  1. On the report, select Customize report.
  2. From the Dates drop-down, select All.
  3. Set the report basis to Accrual, then select OK.
  4. Check the reports.

If the same thing happens, try running the Rebuild Data tool to fix any company file data issues. Just follow the steps and detail in the Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file article. We can also repair your QuickBooks Desktop to fix any damaged components in the software.

Sales By Item Summary

I checked the report and it appears that it uses the item data from sales transactions, including the sales price and the COGS that appear on those transactions.

What are you noticing that's different?

Sales By Item Summary

Ours is pulling from the item data as well, specifically the invoice line items table. However, if I run a Sales By Item Summary, say for the month of May, I get items on the Quickbooks report that are not on the Zoho Report. I've ran a transaction report from Quickbooks filtering on the items that are in question and there are no transactions for those items in the specified month.

Sales By Item Summary

I'm trying to use this report and it's miserable.

We have subcategories of inventory.

I just want to easily see the item sold, qty sold, and amount of sales.

And then be able to sort by qty sold or amount.

I cannot do this because it won't allow me to sort any other way then "total" or "default".

I need to be able to run this report WITHOUT the category...JUST THE ITEM NAME/NUMBER.

Any suggestions?

Sales By Item Summary

Thanks for chiming in on this thread, amyp.

I'd like to suggest a report that you can sort by item, qty, and amount of sales.

You can run the Sales by Customer Detail. This report will tell you what the total sales for each customer.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports located at the top.
  2. Choose Sales > Sales by Customer Detail.
  3. Select the Date, and choose any option from the Sort By drop-down list.

I've got this sample screenshot for a visual reference:

Furthermore, you can check these articles to learn more about the reports in QuickBooks Desktop and how you can customize them:

If you have any additional questions about the report I've suggested or need help with other concerns, please let me know by adding some details in your reply. I'll be around to help.
