Sales tax on invoices is being track under credit card payables instead of sales tax. I can't re-map it or make inactive because transactions have beenrecorded under it.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, TZ72. I appreciate your detailed information.

To properly identify why your sales tax on invoices is being tracked under credit card payables instead of sales tax, I'd recommend working with a tax professional. If you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.

Here's how it works:

  1. Go to our Find a ProAdvisor page.
  2. Use the City or ZIP search field to specify a location.
  3. Select Find a ProAdvisor.
  4. Browse through your results and find one that works best for the business. You can click on each ProAdvisor's profile to learn more information about them.

Once you've found an accountant, they can be contacted through their Send a message form:

  1. Use the available text box to introduce yourself. Be sure to include details about which services you're looking for.
  2. Enter your appropriate info in the Your nameYour email, and Your phone number (optional) fields.
  3. Select Send message.

If you need to set sales taxes up, you can add/edit tax agencies, rates, and settings from your Sales Tax Center.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with sales taxes which may come in handy moving forward: Check how much sales tax you owe

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great Friday!

I recognize the importance of tracking your sales tax payables on the correct payable account, @TZ72. Let me chime in and share details about this.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), it's important to ensure that the account where your sales taxes are recorded has the correct detail type. By default, the Detail type for this account should be the Global Tax Payable type. To verify this, you can check its detail type in the Chart of Accounts. You can refer to the image below:

However, if your credit card payable account doesn't match the default detail type, I recommend reaching our Customer Support team to help you further. They have the necessary tools to check your account and initiate a screen-sharing session to investigate this issue. Here's how you can reach them:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select the Search tab.
  2. Then, click Contact Us.
  3. Then, enter a brief description of your concern and select Continue.
  4. Lastly, choose either Start a Chat or Get a Callback to start connecting with them.

To make things easier for you, I've also provided some helpful references that you can check out to pay your sales taxes and make adjustments:

Please extend your patience about this matter. If you have follow-up questions or concerns, feel free to leave a comment below. I'm always here to assist you.
