Save invoice as I'm entering items

Hi there, terra-firma-mn.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll ensure to share details about sending an invoice in QuickBooks Self Employed.

There is no option in setting up a timeout or time duration when entering items on the invoice. The issue about being unable to add products and services, send or save the invoice, has been reported as an ongoing issue. Our product engineers are now working to fix this as soon as possible.

I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Self Employed Support Team, so they can add you to our notification list. This will help our engineers determine the number of affected users. You'll also receive an update through email once this has been resolved.

  1. Click the Assistant button at the top.
  2. Type Talk to a human.
  3. Select your preferred support method: Message an agent (Live chat), Call an agent or Get a callback.

You can also use your iOS device to connect with one of our live support. Please check out this article for additional details: Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support.

Save invoice as I'm entering items

Hi ChristieAnn,

Thanks for getting back to me. I've called about this issue before, but of course, being on Sunday, there was nobody to call. I was kind of venting with this, but it is a valid complaint. The invoice allowed me to continue to enter items and pricing. It allowed me to click "Send Invoice". It allowed me to add a personal note to the page after clicking. Then, when I clicked the "Send" confirmation, it took me to the sign in window and my invoice was gone. It would have been better to just kick me when it decided that I was gone for too long, than wait for me to enter a significant extra amount of information and then dump me (I entered quite a bit of info in the second half of the process without any significant time lapses).

This is my first post to the community and when I responded to the email that I got because of that, I went to the forum. I clicked on "unanswered questions" and there was one that I knew the answer to, so I decided to offer that. To be certain, I left the page and went to my account to test run my response. Funny thing happened when I came back. I was gone long enough to prompt an AUTOSAVE to my response! Maybe the invoicing engineers should talk to the forum engineers.

I will certainly be calling support tomorrow morning. This, having happened before (albeit with a significant delay on my part), and nothing being done to add a relatively simple autosave feature to invoice creation has brought me close to cancelling my account. I've been with Quickbooks Self-Employed for about 5 years, I think, and have had a few issues along the way. Another one was related to a lengthy period where I did not issue any invoices (a few months) and the system wouldn't accept, or issue, payment. The system didn't have any problem charging me my monthly fee, though.

OK, I've vented, and thank you again for your response!

Cheers,

Scott

Come one Quickbooks.....that is terrible functionality in today's world.

You should be saving work in a draft or recovery mode so that it can be reinstated when you log back in.....terrible terrible terrible .... I have lost a whole morning's work and have to go through everything again.

Whilst I understand the logout functionality during periods of inactivity, what I cannot understand is that you just "throw" all the work away.

Please prioritise a fix for this!

This is ridiculous. The amount of times I've had to re-enter an entire Invoice. Free apps have this feature and my version of QB is hardly free. Please add this service asap.
