Start and End Times for entries in Time Tracker in QuickBooks Desktop Pro

I am using Desktop Pro 2020. I use the time tracker function heavily. Is there a way to run a report that shows not only the time elapsed (I have mine set to decimal) but also the time each activity entry started, any pauses (start and end times) and the end time of the entry?  I see there are a bunch of add-on apps available but most are for the Online version. Plus, I wouldn't be using the Start-Stop time information for payroll or anything like that so most add-on apps are over the top eg: QuickBooks Time. Surely this information is buried somewhere in QB Desktop. The question is: How do I get to it? Thanks in advance for your help.

Start and End Times for entries in Time Tracker in QuickBooks Desktop Pro

Hi there, @DCB337

The option to track start and end time entries is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro.

For now, you can only track the duration of how much time did your employee works. You can run any payroll reports in QBDT to view these details.

I can see how this option would be helpful for you and your business. Therefore, let me take note of this as a suggestion to improve your QuickBooks experience.

I'd recommend using other third-party apps to view your employee's hours in Hours and Minutes (HH:MM) or Decimals. You can search for the app in this link: https://desktop.apps.com/home.

Yet another shortcoming of QuickBooks.

Start and End Times for entries in Time Tracker in QuickBooks Desktop Pro

This has not yet been addressed as of June 2023. There is an option for the start tome and end time in the reporting here but nothing populates in the columns of the results. I agree with the OP - another shortcoming of QB.

And no, I am not interested in connecting a third party "free" app - which does nothing but complicate the current process - not to mention the metadata that is then shared with Zapier. It sure makes it sound like this (along with several other reporting criteria) is not being "fixed" by QB to move people to those 3rd party apps for kickbacks for the metadata harvested.

I have looked into a few of these shortcomings and every single time, QB's response is that they are working on it based on demand and tells you how to complain straight to QB support and then recommends the 3rd party apps. I am seeing a pattern and it makes me sad that what everyone pays QB monthly is just not enough for their corporation. Does Intuit's annual revenue of $4 billion (including 7 figure exec bonuses) -include what intuit receives from these 3rd party app owners? Either way..... with 17,000 + employees - makes it difficult to believe that trackable data cannot be included in a report by now.

Prove me wrong, QB!
