Tags as They Relate To Company Totals

Is there a report by tag group that will also provide the company totals for comparison? 

We'd like to see a report that shows each tag's percent of total company income. See the attached image for an example. 

Is this even possible? Is there a special way to customize another report for this? Thank you for your help!

I'm here to help you with pulling up the report you need in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

Yes, you can run two reports for this. First is the Income by Customer Summary report for the percentage comparison. Then, the Transaction List by Tag Group report. This report categorizes the transactions by tag group. I'll guide you on how.

 

  1. Click on Reports at the left pane, then look for Transaction List by Tag Group from the search field.
  2. Open the report.
  3. Filter the Report period.
  4. Go to the Customize button, then add the tag groups from the columns.
  5. Group the Rows/columns by Customer, then click on Run report to refresh the page.

 

Once done, prepare the Income by Customer Summary report as shown on your screenshot. From there, export both reports to Excel and adjust the columns from there. 

 

To export the report:

 

  1. Tap on the Export icon beside the Print and Gear icon.
  2. Click on Export to Excel.

@Angelyn_T   I was hoping there was a way to build the report in QBO, instead of using Excel magic. My client wants to be able to run the report themselves.

Tags as They Relate To Company Totals

Right now, you need to manually compare tag reports by combining them in one Excel file, SHSBookkeepers.

 

You can run reports for tag groups and see each totals. Then, export them to Excel and combine the data from there.

 

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu and select Tags.
  2. Find a group on the list.
  3. Under the Action column, select Run report.
  4. You can the customize it depending on your needs.

In additional to this, the report that can compare your income and expenses is the Profit and Loss financial statement.
