"Today" date in reports is incorrect - how to fix?

Hello.  I have QB Desktop 2020 for Mac. When I go to Reports, it thinks that "Today" is always 9/8/2020 (doesn't matter which report I try to run).  I have to manually change the dates.  If I select Year to Date or Month to Date - it always thinks that "today" is 9/8/2020. I am sure this is a minor problem, I just can't figure out why it thinks today is 9/8/20 - or how to solve this.  I am tired of continuously changing the date span.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

"Today" date in reports is incorrect - how to fix?

Thanks for posting here in the Community, @BSWT.

Allow me to share some insights about the dates that you see when you run reports. QuickBooks will base today's date on your computer. I suggest checking the time and date of your computer and ensure that they are up to date.

However, if everything is correct and the issue persists, we can run the Verify and Rebild tool. This tool helps resolve minor and common data issues in QuickBooks.

Before we proceed, I  recommend updating QuickBooks to the latest release. Doing so can help your books stay up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes. I'll guide you how:

  1. From the QuickBooks drop-down menu, select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  2. If a newer version is available, click Install Update.
  3. When prompted, select Install and Relaunch.
  4. When the update is complete, QuickBooks for Mac will open automatically.

Once done, we can now utilize the Verify and Rebuild tool.

Here's how to verify your data:

  1. Go to the File menu and then select Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data.
  3. Click OK to close all windows. If you see a prompt message, Your data has failed the integrity check, rebuild your file to correct the issue. Otherwise, you're done.

Here are the steps in rebuilding your company file:

  1. From the File menu, select Utilities.
  2. Select Rebuild Data and then select OK to close all windows.
  3. QuickBooks will ask to make a backup before rebuilding your company file, select OK. If you don’t want to do a backup, select Cancel to continue.
    • If you haven’t set up any backup preferences, QuickBooks will ask you to update them. Select Backup Preferences and edit as needed, then click OK.
    • When the backup's finished, select Show in Finder to locate the backup.
  4. Once the rebuild's finished, select OK.

Additionally, I encourage you to browse this article for more details in customizing reports. This helps you filter the important info that you'd like to show in your reports: Customize Reports in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

We're only a few clicks away if you need further assistance in running reports.

"Today" date in reports is incorrect - how to fix?

Thank you for your reply. I followed your instructions. I did not need to update anything because it said I was all up to date. Next, I clicked to verify data, per instructions, and it said everything was good. I checked my laptop date and time and they are correct. I went back into reports, and although the date over on the left top of page says that it is 10/27/20 (this has always been correct).  Nothing has changed. Any other suggestions?  Thank you.
