Trouble with writing checks.

I enter information to write a check. All the information regarding amounts are equal and balance. I click to save and get the message that check transaction is not balanced. It has also happened to a client of mine.

I have done all updates and shut down several times.

Trouble with writing checks.

Yes, this is a bug Intuit introduced in the last release. It seems they didn't even test their changes, whatever they were. Intuit reps here claim they're all working on it super, duper hard - so expect a fix within a few months.

Trouble with writing checks.

Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, Susan1951. I appreciate you for performing some steps to fix the error message you've encountered. As mentioned by BigRedConsulting, the error you're getting has been recently tagged as an ongoing issue. I'll ensure you'll be routed to the right support team to assist you further.

While our product engineers are now working to fix this as soon as possible, I recommend toggling back and forth between the Expenses and Items tab as a workaround. You can also turn off the preference for Automatically remember transaction information that is located in the General section.

Furthermore, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. This way, you'll be added as one of the affected users. Rest assured you'll be notified via email when there's an update to this issue and once this is resolved.

Here's how:

  1. Press F1 to open the Help window.
  2. From the search icon, type Contact Support.
  3. Click Contact us at the bottom part.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue about writing checks and click the Search button.
  5. You'll be routed with How to connect with a QuickBooks expert and you choose which one is best for you.

Lastly, refer to this article if you need steps in deleting or voiding checks in QBDT: Create, modify, and print checks.

Keep me posted if there's anything else you need about this concern or if you have any other questions concerning QuickBooks. I'm always here to help, Susan1951.
