I spent almost 2 hours yesterday on the phone with QB tech support, just to find out they didn't know what I was talking about! Your colleagues here in UK should know that there is an open investigation and you are collecting names of the 'affected' customers.....it is such a waste of MY time if I have now to ring the support again!
Why do you need a list of 'affected' customers?
JUST CORRECT THE ON/OFF BUTTON IN LABS, as you have already the function there!!!!! Right now, it DOESN'T do anything. Just enable it.
So the 'affected' customers can easily turn off 'tags' if they wish to.
Please talk to the tech support people in the UK, so nobody else waste 2 hours of their time explaining the problem to them, as they should know it by now!!
Hello l-brusati,Thanks for your feedback on this as yes tagging is in our labs section to turn on and off, we would expect then you would be able to do that which is why the investigaion was raised, we need affected users so when it is resolved we can reach out to those users and also if the engineers need a user or two to test the fix on before rolling out the fix to all they have a record and also so we can see how many users are affected.
First- you CANNOT turn off tags on QBOE. Second you CANNOT contact support by using the help menu unless you are unemployed and have a lot of free time because the help you get in chat has no experience with QBOE and NEVER understands the question if you actually get someone. The other thing is the support hours are so limited and so many people are STARVING for support that you will never get to a helpful agent......so your best bet is to give up and accept how bad QBOE has gotten or move to any other software.......
There is NO Quickbooks LABS on QBOE.........stop telling us to go to Quickbooks labs tab....no such thing....
Still waiting.....................
EmmaM we have been BEGGING for QBO to restore the option to TURN OFF TAGS for months now.
It's the middle of tax season and it would be a nice treat. How about it?
Hi there, carlwcpa.
The option to turn off the Tags option isn't available however, we can delete it. Let me guide you how:
I've also added this guide for more information about taxes: QuickBooks Online year-end guide and checklist.
Let me know if there's anything that I can help. Keep safe!
Adrian_A, no your resolution doesn't help with the main focus of this thread which is to disable them completely. I received and email your reply as I'm on the list of "Affected Customers" for Investigation 52514. I was so excited that there was finally an answer. Unfortunately, I was let down once again by quickbooks! Your solution appears to deleting a Tag or Tag Group that was already created in the system. This thread is to disable it ENTIRELY. I'm one of the group that doesn't even have Tags on my Lab page to either turn on or turn off! How long is it going to take your engineers to provide a resolution? This has been a known issue for months!
Hi Adrian, I'd like to try what you are suggesting in order to get the 'TAGS' field option removed. Can you please explain where the 'transactions' tab is located in QuickBooks online for the UK? Thanks every so much, Lucia
Hello l-brusati, In the UK version tags are located in the settings cog in the top right>lists>tags.
Hi Adrian, still not clear what the proble with TAGS is.
You have sent instructions on how to delete TAGS in transactions, but the problem is that I don't have any TAGS as I don't want any TAGS in my transactions!
Please give us the option of turning TAGS OFF, once and for all!!!!
Thanks, Lucia
Hey everybody, annoyed with the 'TAGS' field!
Good news, I have finally found the way of getting rid of the 'TAGS' in my transactions (at least for today....not sure if coming tomorrow I will find them again, typical QBO which sometimes forgets the preferred settings!).
You have to go to 'Expenses', open one transaction (any will do), click on the cog of the transaction and untick 'TAGS'. Do the same in 'Sales'. You will not have any more TAGS appearing....
As I said, this was OK for today as I haven't logged out once....hopefully that's it forever, no more annoying 'TAGS'!!!
And this is for QBO UK (not sure about other versions). Lucia
QB Online does NOT have that feature in the Labs selection.
THAT WORKED. HALLELUJAH. THANKS I-BRUSATI
Only in more expensive versions. If you are a smaller business you are punished by being forced to suffer extra tabbing through the tags.
Would it kill Intuit to speak with, say, an actual accountant when making changes to the program?
Whatever--I've already one client that's planning on moving to Xero. Once they do and I have a chance to check it out, I'm probably going to suggest it to the others. Between this and the constant bugs (right now there's no way to transfer the master admin, for instance) and the really slow response the program is more trouble than it's worth. QB Desktop is still solid but Intuit doesn't have a good handle on online--it's all gimmicks and sales as opposed to solid service.
Official QB reps...yes, yes, yes, we know. We can submit a ticket to support. Which will be ignored.
A year later and we are still fighting this ridiculous feature everyone wants gone. Intuit was nice enough to provide a half fix. Yay! Let's turn off tags in Sales / Expense Forms, but let's keep it as an annoying feature in banking where it really screws up your workflow.
I was just chatting with QBO Accountant support and was informed of the following:
"As for tag, we can remove the tags in transactions such as invoices thru account and settings > sales. However, as for the tags in banking, we don't have the option to remove or disable it, since it's a new feature being applied in QB by our product developers. I can see how this feature would be beneficial to you and your business. "
Intuit is really NOT listening...We have been promised over and over by Intuit that they would provide a solution to Turn Off Tags, period. And now we are told that is not going to be the case.
Good thing Intuit is upping the price while cutting the Accountant benefits along with a horribly declining Accountant support, it makes moving to another Accounting software so much easier!
Updated message from support:
"This is what our team says that tags has been turned on for 100% of US QBO accounts, with no option for customers to disable. The Tags product team is working on the creating the Setting to disable the feature. Although Tags is still showing in QB, turning off there would not disable it. The tags product team is aware of users wanting to permanently disable it. We can let them know it is already on our roadmap. and recommend they leave feedback using the Give Feedback link on the tags page if they'd like. And customers can use it or not, since, it's just an added feature in QB, that doesn't requires you to add a tag on the account."
