Unit of Measure

I appreciate the screenshot you've provided, talk2khurram.

The maximum # of G you can enter is up to 10000 grams since the system is unable to calculate beyond 5 decimal places.

Unit of Measure

Hi there, talk2khurram.

To start creating multiple units of measure in QuickBooks Desktop, you'll need first to enable this option from Preferences.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Edit menu. Then, choose Preferences.
  2. Select Items & Inventory and go to the Company Preferences tab.
  3. From the Unit of Measure section, click the Enable button. Note that if you don't see the Enable button, the unit of measure is already turned on.
  4. Choose Multiple U/M Per Item under the unit of measure drop-down.
  5. (Optional) If you don't want to define a unit of measure right now and assign it to the current item, mark Begin defining units of measure.
  6. If the Begin defining units of measure checkbox is picked, complete the wizard. Then, select Finish.
  7. Click OK.

Once done, you can now add a unit of measure set. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Click the Lists menu and select U/M Set ListNote: Unit of measure sets are only used if it is set to Multiple U/M Per Item mode. If you don't see U/M Set List on the Lists menu, then a unit of measure is either set to Single U/M Per Item mode or is turned off.
  2. From the U/M Set drop-down, choose New.
  3. Finish the Unit of Measure wizard.
  4. If you need help at any point, select Help.

Please note that once a Unit of Measure is added, it can no longer be deleted.

For additional information, you can click this article: Use single and multiple units of measure for items. This also provides details on how you can print the unit of measure set list.

if i enter 15000 g here then it OK for me. Why i can not here 15000 g.

Unit of Measure

Are people really buying by the gram or per 10 or 50 grams or so?

If you see that you are selling in portions of say 10 gram, you would need to go up to 1,500 only.

Base unit = Portion (which is 10g) (Pt)

Bag = 1,500 portions (Bg)
