We want to start charging customers late fees on invoices older than 60 days on the account, but when I go to Account Settings, the oldest available is 30 days.

Can this additional grace period be added to the account or is there a way to circumvent this?  Thanks!

We want to start charging customers late fees on invoices older than 60 days on the account, but when I go to Account Settings, the oldest available is 30 days.

I have the information on how to apply late fees on invoices older than 60 days on the account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), abrackin. Let's work side-by-side to streamline your workflow.

Since the grace period in QuickBooks Online is only 30 days, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Engineers. This way, they can review your suggestion and consider adding it in future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
  2. Type in your product suggestions.
  3. Select Next to submit.

In the meantime, I suggest manually adding late fees to the invoices that are more than 60 days old in your account. First, you'll need to create a service item called "Late fee" to add as a line item to the invoices.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Lists column, click Products and services.

  3. Hit New and select Service.

  4. Enter the name of your service item as a Late fee.
  5. Choose Fees as the Category.
  6. Tick the box I sell this product/service to my customers.
  7. Once done, click Save and close.

Now, let's add the created service item to your invoices. Here's how to do it:

  1. Navigate to Sales and click Invoices.

  2. Locate the invoices that are older than 60 days.
  3. Hit Edit to open the invoice and add a line item for the late fee manually.
  4. Once done, click Save and close.

Thank you so much for your reply.  That will work, except we close our books each month, so I will need to create a new invoice of just the late fees.  I will submit the request to the development team.  Thanks again.
