What is the best way to Manually Record Etsy Fees into QB. Currently, only Sales data only comes thru a different sync, my QB is not tied to etsy for inventory reasons.

My Etsy Sales data sync's to Shopify - then to Quickbooks so they Etsy fees do not carry over.

I have all the data I need, just looking for advise on how / where to post the Etsy Fees in QB. Many Thanks!

Good day! Allow me to be the one to help with your questions about recording processing fees, mike418.

You can edit the sales or invoice transactions and add the Etsy fee in the second line item. However, I recommend checking with your accountant about what expense account to use to maintain accurate bookkeeping.

Start by creating a service fee item that represents the processing charges from Etsy. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Products and Service.
  2. Choose New and select Service.
  3. Indicate what account to use in the Income account field.
  4. Enter all the details and click Save and close

Once done, open each sales transaction and use the item you just created. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and select Invoices or All Sales.
  2. Select a transaction with an Etsy fee.
  3. Choose Edit invoice.
  4. Add the Etsy fee in the second or next line right after the last item in the invoice.
  5. Click Save and close

Details about this are also discussed here: Add Service Fees Manually to Invoices.

Let me know if you're able to record the Etsy fees. You can also ask follow-up questions in your reply if you need anything else.

Hello,

Can you show how this will work in QBDT.  We've recently started selling on Etsy and am not sure if I should show the fees on the invoice or somewhere else.

Thanks.

Thanks for joining this thread, Whoadeb. I can help provide insight to track Etsy fees manually on invoices in QuickBooks Desktop.

In QuickBooks, the program depends on the transactions downloaded from your Etsy account. If you've already created an invoice entry without fees being applied yet, you can create an account to Receive Payment transactions to the Undeposited Funds. Then, utilize the Bank Deposits and use an expense fee account to it. This way, these fees are recorded in your QuickBooks data.

Once done, match the bank deposit created to the downloaded payment transaction. To do this:

  1. On the Homepage, select Record Deposits / Make Deposits.
  2. In the Payments to Deposit window, select the payments you want to combine. Then select OK.
  3. In the Make Deposits window, select the account you want to put the deposit into from the Deposit to dropdown.
  4. Check the deposit total. Make sure the account and selected payments match the deposit slip from your bank. Use your deposit slip as a reference.
  5. Enter the date you deposited at your bank.
  6. Add a memo as needed.
  7. When you're done, select Save & Close.

In addition to that, you can run specific reports to track aging or uncleared transactions in your file. Once everything looks good, start reconciling your data to ensure all entries match your bank and credit card statements.

I'm all ears to any additional queries you may have when managing fees on invoices in your account. You can always drop a comment below, and I'll be around to get you covered. Keep safe and have a good one!

@Whoadeb

Consider having a 3rd party connector to reconcile Etsy transactions into QB Desktop.
