When categorizing transactions and typing in Vendor/Customer Quickbooks says donor does not exist, then when I add, says they do and won't let me add.

I'm under the Banking menu. Trying to categorize transactions from an account. I type in a name in the Vendor/Customer box, they aren't in the list, it says "Add <name here>." I click the Add button, then it says "Something’s not quite right Another donor, vendor, or employee is already using this name. Please use a different name." When I search for their name using the search feature, they come up, however, the dropdown in the Vendor/Customer will not recognize that they exist. So, I can't add them as a new name, but I can't find them in the list so only gives me the choice to add them.

Hello there, @vicepresident-ns.

Let's get this sorted out by performing some troubleshooting steps so you can get back to working order.

One of the possible reasons why there's no selection or you can't add a new donor from the Vendor/Customer drop-down is that the browser you're using has data issues. Let's try logging into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser. This way, we can check if it's a browser data issue. Press this shortcut key on your keyboard to open a private browser:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N on your keyboard for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox
  • Press Command + Shift + N for Safari

Once logged in, go back and try to categorize your bank transactions again to double-check. If this works, it means that you need to clear the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result while using a private browser, I recommend switching to a different one.

Just in case you want to automatically categorize your bank transactions, you can utilize the bank rules feature in QuickBooks Online. With this, you don't need to categorize them manually.

Please know that I'm just a reply away if you need any further assistance managing your bank transactions. Have a good one.

if you create vendor (Supplier) name (Xyz ) not so your customer list name (Xyz) because quickbook not support link vendor and supplier same .Please use a different name." When I search for their name using the search feature, they come up, however, the dropdown in the Vendor/Customer will not recognize that they exist. So please create new customer name use Special character like (.,*,@,#,% etc.)

Name Like customer

1.Xyx

2#xyx

3@xyx

Incognito mode worked.  That's really strange.  Next time I see this issue, I'll try clearing the cache and see if that works.  The app must not be refreshing the cache when needed.
