When I try to edit an invoice using the QBO mobile IOS app, the custom fields I've created do not show up. How do I get them to show up?

I create a new invoice using QBOnline using a PC browser. The mobile IOS app is used to edit the invoice on the job and get a customer signature. However, the custom invoice fields are not showing up in the mobile app when editing an invoice. We are able to use custom fields when using QBO on the mobile Google Chrome app, but then we can't get a customer signature without opening the QBO app too.

Hi there, miqualitypestcon.

I'm here to share more information on how custom fields work in QuickBooks Online.

The custom field will not sync on the QuickBooks Online application. However, the fields will show up when you log into a browser.

If you want to send a reminder when your customer's invoices are overdue or soon to due, you can check this article:

Fill me in if there's anything else that I can assist you with.

I think thats something you should work on, Can we customize your app only for us? we need two specific custom fields, and working from the browser is not an option for us.

Thanks for visiting the QuickBooks Community, @Tomas123.

Currently, the option to sync the custom fields through the QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile app is unavailable. As a workaround, you can utilize your browser to show up the custom fields. You can visit this article for the requirements to access QBO seamlessly: QuickBooks Online access for mobile devices.

I can see how having this option can aid you in managing your business flawlessly. I recommend sending your feedback to our Product Development Team so they can review it and might consider implementing it in the future.

Here's how you can submit feature requests using your QBO mobile app:

For Android devices:

  1. Select the Menu button.
  2. Tap the Gear icon.
  3. Click on the vertical ellipsis ⋮ in the upper-right corner.
  4. Choose Feedback
  5. Type in your feedback and product suggestions.
  6. Hit Send Feedback.
  7.

For iOS devices:

  1. Go to the Menu ☰ icon, then select Help & Feedback.
  2. Choose App Feedback.
  3. Type in your feedback and product suggestions.

Visit our Feedback forum page to see a list of other QuickBooks users who suggested this feature, as well as the recent updates in QuickBooks.

You can also check out this article for more details about the features available in QBO mobile app: Compare mobile app features.

Drop me a comment below if there's anything else you need. I'd be happy to offer additional help. Have a blissful day!

When I try to edit an invoice using the QBO mobile IOS app, the custom fields I've created do not show up. How do I get them to show up?

That's BS. The info you provided this person about custom fields was absolutely incorrect in May.  I've been using custom fields for years - like many other users - on the Mobile App with no issues until the 8/30/23 update, now my sales reps are unable to use the two custom fields they've previously been able to  populate on the mobile app.  Quickbooks / Intuit has the least knowledgable engineers of any company I've ever dealt with.  There is no quality control with regard to how changes impact customers using both the mobile app and online versions when changes are made.  I am actively looking for a replacement that actually takes their customers into account and throughly tests product changes through all processes before they throw it into production and cause their customers grief.   I pay $200 per month for horrible service and technical support.

When I try to edit an invoice using the QBO mobile IOS app, the custom fields I've created do not show up. How do I get them to show up?

As of today (5/23/2024), when I log in as an accountant user on the QB Iphone App, I can access the custom fields and add job location and lot number to the invoice. However, when I log into the QB IPhone App with my client's credentials, that option isn't there.

This needs to be fixed asap!

I appreciate you sharing and confirming details of what you've done, CampbellMC. Please note that the issue with the custom field not appearing on the invoice when using the iOS app is marked as ongoing. Let me direct you to our support team for more assistance.

For now, you have to access the QuickBooks app of your client through a web browser as workaround. This is done to ensure you can manage custom fields, add job location, and lot number to the invoice.

Then, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Online Support Team so they can add you to our notification list. This will help our engineers determine the number of affected users. You'll also receive updates through email once the issue is resolved.

Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Account.
  2. At the top right, click the Help icon.
  3. Choose the Assistant section.
  4. Type your concern about a custom field using the QBO app in the Type something field.
  5. Click Talk to a human.
  6. Click I still need a human.
  7. Click the Get help from a human.
  8. You'll be routed into the How can we help? page. Then, select either Start a chat or Get a callback and fill in the information.

In case you need steps on how you can view, create, and edit sales transactions within the Sales page, you can read this article: View sales transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you have still questions regarding customizing invoices using an app in QuickBooks, don't hesitate to add them below. I'll do everything in my power to help you, CampbellMC, Take care!
