When taking a credit card for payment on a Sales Receipt, QBO does not have the swipe feature and forces the keyed in information

I've got some information and alternative steps to help you use the swipe card feature again, @flytint.

You'll need a credit card reader to use this feature and pay for sales receipts. You can enter the credit card details if you currently don't have one. For reference, you can go to the Process payments for sales receipt section of this article: Take and process payments in QuickBooks Online with QuickBooks Payments.

However, if you have a credit card reader and the feature isn't working properly, a cache-related issue likely causes the problem. If this is the case, let’s perform some troubleshooting steps. We can use a private or incognito window to rule out cache issues in your browser. Here are the shortcut keys:

  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

Next, log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account and use the feature again. If it works, you can clear your browser's cache. This removes the webpage data that’s causing the situation. If using a private browser doesn't work, you can use other supported browsers as another option.

In case you want to check when QB deposits customer payments into your bank account, you can visit this article for guidance: Find out when QuickBooks Payments deposits customer payments.

Please let me know if you have follow-up concerns about the swipe card feature. I'm always here to help.

Hi,

We use the QBO Desktop app, however I tried your solution using the Incognito solution. I did not work either.

I have Chatted with support several times on this issue starting back in September, that last Chat took screen shots to send to engineers and said it would be fixed. It's still not
