Why can I no longer add a custom field to my Estimate template (Classic Airy)? I even tried to "Edit" the Sales Form Content in Account and Settings to no avail.

Why can I no longer add a custom field to my Estimate template (Classic Airy)? I even tried to "Edit" the Sales Form Content in Account and Settings to no avail.

Hi there, coastlinecustomc.

We'll have to take note that we can only add up to 3 custom fields in your sales forms. If you're currently using 1 or 2 custom fields, we can perform some basic troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. It could be that the stored cache and cookies in the system are the reason why you're unable to add another custom field.

We can start by accessing your QuickBooks account in a private/incognito browsing window. Doing this process will help identify if it's a browser-related issue since this mode doesn't save your web searches and site data. Feel free to use these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

Once you're in, let's open your template then add another custom field. If it's working well, we'll have to go back to your regular browser then clear the cache to delete the stored junk files. Alternatively, we can use other supported browsers to further isolate the issue. Currently, these are our supported web browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari 11 or newer

Aside from estimates, we can also personalize your invoice and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online so that customers will recognize your brand.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please don't hesitate to insert a comment below. Stay safe and have a great rest of the weekend.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I tried your suggestions, but unfortunately it’s still now working. I cleared the cookies and cache in Google Chrome (which is what I normally use), even after trying to open QuickBooks in Incognito Mode. I also tried using both Safari and Firefox.

Could you please let me know what else I might do to remedy the problem?

Welcome back to the Community, coastlinecustomc.

Thanks for following the resolution by my colleague and sharing the result with us. Let’s try one more to isolate this unusual behavior.

We’ll have to go to the Custom form styles page to delete the estimate. Then, create a new one using Classic Airy.

This is to identify if the issue is with the template. Here’s how to perform this task.

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top to choose Custom form styles under Your Company.
  2. This will take you to the All lists page.
  3. From there, select the estimate you’re working on and hit the Edit link to select Delete.

  4. Press Yes, delete this style to confirm the action.

To make another customized estimate:

  1. On the Custom form styles page, tap drop-down for New style to choose Estimate.
  2. Navigate to the Design tab and tap the Change up the template link to select Classic Airy.

  3. From there, tailor the estimate similar to the previous one.
  4. Click Done.

If you’re still unable to add another custom field, I suggest contacting our QBO Care Team for further assistance. They have tools to review and configure the template in a secure space.

Once they’ve identified where the issue is stemming from, our specialists will walk you through the steps to apply the permanent solution.

Here’s how to reach them:

  1. Choose the Help menu in the upper right hand to open the Search window.
  2. From there, scroll down to click the Contact us link.

  3. Type the issue/topic in the field box and then hit the Let’s talk button.

  4. Select how you want to reach out to our support team: Start messaging or Get a callback.

Let me share this guide for future reference. It outlines the instructions on how to add brand on your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you have any other concerns or questions. I’m here to help and make sure this is taken care of for you.

Thank you!  I tried that as well, but unfortunately it didn't work either.  I'll contact the help team per your suggestion.  Thanks again!
