Why can you have an apostrophe in a Vendor's Name field, but you can't use an apostrophe in the Search field?

Hello there, @lucedalelivestoc.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I can help you use an apostrophe in the Search field.

I've replicated this in my sample company file to be sure and it allows me to use an apostrophe in the Search field. It's possible that your browser is holding too much data, and that's causing the error.

Let's do some basic troubleshooting steps. First, use a private or incognito window when logging into QBO.

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N keys on your keyboard (Google Chrome)
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + P keys on your keyboard (Firefox or Internet Explorer)
  • Press Control + Option + P keys on your keyboard (Safari)

If the private browsing session works, you’ll need to go back to regular browser and clear your browser’s cache to prevent unexpected behavior and for it to function more efficiently.

That should help you optimize the Search feature, lucedalelivestoc.

Why don't apostrophes in vendor names print on checks?!?!?!

Hi there,

I'm here to help fix this printing issue.

QuickBooks Online should be able to print the complete name of your vendor, including the apostrophe mark. It could be that the accumulated cache and cookies in your browser are the root cause of this issue. To rule this out, you can follow the troubleshooting steps provided by my colleague, HoneyLynn_G.

You'll also want to make sure that you're using the latest release of Adobe Reader/Acrobat. This program controls and manages all the printing processes in QBO. Feel free to read this article for reference: How to update, repair, or re-install Adobe Reader/Acrobat.

I'm also adding these articles to help manage your vendor checks:
