Why is a estimate sent to a customer months ago showing up on my taxable income when that job was never accepted or paid?

I sent a estimate to a customer, and it threw my books way off but that job was never accepted by the customer.

I'm delighted to have you in the Community, @speeddoctormachi. I'll gladly discuss why your estimate shows as taxable income in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company.

Here in QBO, when you do an estimate and click the box below the Tax column, it'll automatically show as taxable income on your end, even when it was never settled or delivered to your customer. To fix this, you can update the status of that estimate and change it to Closed. I'll be more than happy to input the steps below so you can proceed. To begin, here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, go to the Sales tab.
  3. Go to Estimates section, and then locate the estimate that was never delivered.
  4. Below the Action column, click the dropdown arrow and select Update Status.
  5. Change the status to Closed.
  6. Once done, click OK.

For more information, feel free to visit this article: Create and send estimates in QuickBooks Online.

In addition, here's an article to help you add more details to your reports in QBO: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

You can also check this page if you want to memorize your report so QuickBooks will automatically apply your current settings to your latest data in your company: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

It was a pleasure to have you in the Community, @speeddoctormachi. If you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns or need help with your tasks in QuickBooks. You can always post here again. I got you covered, and I'll gladly assist you. Take care, and have a nice day!
