Buy nowHi there, jzeleznik. I’m here to provide details about the balance forward section when creating invoices in a new layout.
We’re updating these forms to simplify them for customer use and to upgrade the back-end technology they are built on. However, in the short term, some features will not be available in the new version. This includes the Account Summary where the Balance Forward belongs to.
Moreover, you can see what’s new with estimates and invoices to learn what you can do with the new rolled-out experience. Also, concerning switching back to the old invoice layout, this varies according to what version you’re using.
If you’re under a Simple Start, and Essentials subscription, the option to revert it is no longer available. For QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced, you can follow these instructions to start:
In the meantime, you can create a customer statement to send them a summary of their invoices, payments, credits, and balances. Here’s how:
If you want to create multiple statements for your clients, you can refer to this resource for complete guidelines: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.
Once your customers decide to pay their balances, you can begin recording your customer’s payments to keep your records accurate.
Please know I'm a post away if you have any concerns about invoicing or any other QuickBooks concerns. I wish you continued success in all of your business ventures.
It’s been almost 2 years, and we still don’t have balance forward available on the new invoice format? How do I show a balance forward in the new invoice format without a complicated hack like creating a new charge so the Balance Due amount is accurate? This hack will completely mess up my accounting.
I’m so disappointed that I’m being charged more per month for QBO but am *losing basic, critical minimum-viable-product features* like Balance Forward.
I can’t delete or edit my reply above (another epic fail), so I will just update here. I finally figured out how to do this, but the interface is so bad, it’s all but unusable in QBO. I was literally having to *guess* the changes I was making - I had to click, save, and hope for the best since I couldn’t actually *read the description, or even the name* of the options I was editing, bc they’re covered up by an utterly useless “live preview” you can’t move, minimize or get rid of, and which has edit in place options that don’t actually do anything.
Judging by this experience, Intuit HATES its mobile users. A feature this basic should not be this hard to do, and there’s no excuse for the user interface being this unusable.
