But then I have the extra step on opening the xlsx file in Excel, and converting it to an csv file. Just trying to eliminate an unnecessary step. You might be wondering what advantage a csv file has? Well, it's smaller, hints that it's a data file and can be easier to manipulate in PowerQuery and in Notepad++.

The option to download the report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a CSV file is currently unavailable. You can only export it using Excel and PDF files and then save it as a CSV file on your computer.
I would also suggest sending feedback to our product development team to have this feature in the future update to make your work a lot easier and for a better experience.

I have found a way to export in CSV. Go to the print option. There you can choose to print to a csv file.
