Buy nowHello there,
You'll want to reach out to your employer and verify the status of your employee setup on his end. You may also inquire about the setup for your direct deposit. Your employer should Set up his company payroll for direct deposit. And have you, his employee, fill out, sign, and date a direct deposit authorization form and attach a voided check from the employee’s bank account (not a deposit slip). Select your payroll for the next steps.
For detailed information on the entire process, refer to this article: Set up direct deposit for employees.

I am the employer - employee files are complete. This has only started happening the in the last few weeks. They are able to view paystub, but when they try to log into their profile - they get this message. It seems this is an on going issue with the good folks at QB - i noticed a few posts about the same thing. I can't get anyone from QB to understand what I'm talking about.
Yes, you're correct, hbowen. Based on our records, we have an ongoing investigation (INV-91177) where employees encounter an error message while accessing or editing information in the QuickBooks Workforce's Profile tab. Rest assured that this issue is currently being worked on with utmost urgency. With this, let me redirect you to the best help available.
I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team to add your account to the list of affected users. This ensures you're in the loop about the investigation's status and its fix. To do this, here's how:
While we are unable to provide the exact turnaround time as to when this issue gets fixed, you can manually edit employees' information in QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP).
Once everything is all set, you may want to run, print, and customize payroll reports to view details about your business finances, taxes, and employees. For the complete guide on how to do this in QBOP, please see this article: Run payroll reports.
If there's anything else you need or you have other payroll concerns and questions about managing employees in QBOP, I'm always ready to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, hbowen.
No still have the same issue. Again this is something new that has just started happening. Frustrating that a company as big as Intuit can’t figure this out.
I just spent 3 hours in a chat with support on this problem, during which I kept referring to this thread and to INV-91177. She had me try various things, only to say at the end, basically: Sorry, this is how it works, this is not being worked as a bug, there are terrible security issues with allowing employees to change their own data.
It is being advertised that way, though. All you have to do is click on "Learn More" in the Payroll Settimgs/Employee Profile Management section, and it says: "Employees can also update their personal and tax information when they have life changes."
Isn't there some kind of trace or dump that can be run to see EXACTLY what is going on, instead of just wasting the customer's time trying things and finally pretending it's a feature rather than a bug?
We're new to QBOP, indeed to QB, and I feel like we signed up for QBOP without being told that the advertised features don't work.
