Thanks for reaching out to us here today, @Diana1.
I have some information about recording a customer payment. You'll want to enter it as income this year. If the invoice is still open you can record the payment to mark the invoice as paid. However, I'd still recommend consulting with an accountant to make sure your book is accurate.
To record the payment:
- Go to +New.
- Select Receive payment under Customers.
- Choose the customer's name from the drop-down, then tick the box next to the open invoice. You can also tap the Find by invoice no. button.
- Click Save and close. See the image below.
After recording the payment, the invoice will now mark as paid. You can now proceed with matching the downloaded payment transaction with the QuickBooks transaction.
Check out this guide for the step-by-step instruction: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, here's a link that'll guide you in managing accounts receivables in QBO.
Let me know if you still have questions or concerns with payments. I'll be around for you. Take care and have a great d ay ahead.
