The recurring sales receipt function is not working property since recent UI changes were rolled out to QBO. You can no longer enter a value in the create days in advance field, or the number of months field. The recurring sales receipt function has also gone rogue and is creating multiple future sales receipts in the current month when the sales receipt is scheduled for a monthly interval with a start date. This needs to be fixed immediately.
Hi, Regina_Lend_A_Hand_Accounting.
Allow me to help and get this working for you. Your browser’s overloaded cache could be the reason why you’re unable to enter a number in the create days and months section. It tends to hold information that can cause errors once overloaded.
To check, try viewing creating this transaction on a private window. Being able to do this successfully indicates the said problem above. Here's how:
If you're able to do this via the private window, let's clear the browser's cache on your regular web browser or you can press CTRL+Shift and Delete key on your keyboard altogether.
I'm adding some resources below that contain more information about the recurring transaction feature. Also, this will provide you the steps to edit the service date as well as deleting the duplicate template:
Create recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online
If none of the steps work, try using a different browser. Please get back to me if you continue to get the same results so I can look further into this. Have a good one.
Cheryl: The recurring sales receipt module in QBO is broken after the recent updates. Please tell the moderators to stop responding to these type of posts with a "clear your browser" or "use a different browser" response, as it is not appropriate. We literally cannot enter values into some fields such as the number of days to create a recurring transaction in advance, or the number of months fields. We can no longer "tab" into those fields. AND, I created a recurring sales receipt last week and scheduled it to create monthly beginning 7/22/20 and when I logged in this morning it "automatically" created 3 months of sales receipts for July, August and September of 2020. Clearly this needs to be addressed by the development team ASAP.
Hi @Regina_Lend_A_Hand_Accounting
Thanks for reporting this issue!
It looks like we can duplicate the issue in our QBOA test accounts, but not in QBO. We'll get this issue reported to our QBOA team so they can work on getting it fixed.
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.
Thank you, Cheryl. It is still broken and causing extra work for me as it creating multiple sales receipts per day for future months that I did not want created until those future months.
Hi Regina,
I'll circle back with you once I get notified that they have corrected the issue. In the meantime, we found that if you refresh the browser you'll have access to those fields again. You'll need to refresh to view those fields after saving the template as well. I hope this helps in the short-term.
