Join nowI have several transactions that do not show as cleared in the Register. However, if I click "Edit Credit Card Credit" there's the expected "Cleared" icon. These "uncleared" transactions are impacting reports and reconciliation.
I'm afraid to just check them in the register for fear I'll mess up previous reconciliations. I've rebuilt the data hoping that would clean up the problem, but that didn't work.
Some posts have suggested that the cleared icon I see on the checks and CC transactions, means it's cleared the bank and the check in the register means it's reconciled. To clarify, I don't sync with my bank via any electronic means,. I only reconcile my accounts via paper bank statements and the Banking>Reconcile menu. If the "cleared" icon on checks and CC entries is not the same as the same as the reconcile checkmark, then how are the icons being created on entries without being reconciled?
Does anyone know how to fix this without redoing previous reconciliations?
Thank you.
It's nice to have you again here in the Community, @rtconsulting.
I appreciate you sharing the details of your concern and the steps you've performed to fix this. I'm here to share information about transactions in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) register.
In QBDT, reconciled/cleared transactions that are showing as uncleared occur when a future date is entered in the Statement Date field of the Begin Reconciliation window.
The system assigns the Statement Date (future or otherwise) to each transaction as it is cleared. When you run a reconciliation report, cleared transactions with a future date assigned to them can appear in the Uncleared Transactions section.
To stop this from happening again, check the date in the Statement Date field of the Begin Reconciliation window before continuing with the reconciliation. Make sure the date does not occur in the future.
Also, there are two options on how to resolve this. The first is to undo the previous reconciliation and then reconcile the transactions again using the correct date. The second option is to leave the reconciliation as it is. The transactions will appear as cleared on the report once the statement date has been reached.
You can check out this article and proceed to Cleared transactions appear as uncleared section for the detailed steps on how to fix this: Resolve common issues on Previous Reconciliation report.

I'm only a post away if you have additional questions about managing register transactions or anything else QuickBooks. I'll be here to help. Take care always.
@rtconsulting , matching them to the bank transactions will mark them as cleared. This may be strange, but the cleared status of the transaction is different from the cleared mark when you view the transaction list in the register
@my-answer-is-nonsense, Thank you for actually reading the OP and not just copying and pasting an unrelated solution. Your response is definitely new to me. Would you please explain? How are they different?
