Report Column Customize

I am trying to customize a year end donor report for donors in my church. Using the above                                   report, I thinks I have everything except the product/service column that shows the type of                            donation, like weekly, special, etc. Can I add this and how?

Hi GebelAlainaM,

Somtimes it is not clear if the posts were accepted or not. I tried to open the link bleow, as well as paste it in a browser URL field and got "unexpected error." Is there another way to get to the answer?

The option to add a product and services column in the Transaction List by Donor is unavailable. As a workaround, you can export the Product and Service List report and add the details to the Transaction List by Donor report manually. Hi JanbonN,

When I download the Products/Services List report it does not give me individual donors so I can send a statemnt to each one. Is there a way to auto populate the Memo/Description field with what type of contribution  the donr has made?

Allow me to assist you on how to filter out your report to show your desired details in QuickBooks Online (QBO). 

 

The auto-populate that shows the type of contribution in the Memo/Description field is not available. However, you can run the Transaction Detail by Account report to add the Products/Service column.

Here's how: 
 

  1. Go to the Reports tab, and search Transaction Detail by Account report.
  2. Click on Switch to classic view and from Group by dropdown, select Customer.
  3. Then, click on the small gear icon (Settings).
  4. Check the Product/Service box to show this column on your report.
  5. Click Save customization.

Hi CarlSJ,

I tried the Transaction Detail by Accout report, as you suggested, and there are the following issues.

1. The REF# column is not available to show donors check number, as it is in the Transaction List by Donor report.

2. Each donoatioin is listed by two record lines. a) Payments to deposit and b) Services.

Thank you for coming back and posting here in the Community with your further concerns about customizing reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Jbooze2.

 

Since adding a reference column on your Transaction Detail by Account report is currently unavailable and is having trouble listing the donation. I recommend exporting the report to Excel and adding further customizations to your reports.

 

Here’s how you can export your QBO reports to an Excel:

 

1. At the right panel, choose Reports.

2. Look for and select the report you want to export.

3. At the top of the report, select the Export icon, then select Export to Excel.

4. Save the file to a place where you can easily find it, such as your Downloads folder or your desktop.

 

Know that if you're missing a data when opening the Excel, the file is in protected view. You have to click on Enable Editing to see the full report.

I stumbled upon a report that is going to work. It's the Sales by Donar Detail report. It shows the Product/Service and Ref# Columns.

QuickBooks Online is not designed to create donor statements, and won't. As you note, it is also hard to get a report with just the right information.

 

Instead use our BRC Donor Statements - QB Online, which will create proper statements, including custom text, donation details, and has many other features as well.
