Hello
Is there a report that can show me the net changes in liabilities over a given period of time? I can only find things that show the balance. We're using QB Desktop Premier Contractor 2020.
I know how to calculate what I'm looking for if I export to Excel, but it would be more convenient if I could do it all in QuickBooks.
I want a report where I can have columns for each month and rows for each liability account (credit cards, mortgage loans, personal loans, owner's loan, etc) and the number displayed would be how much that account changed that month. For example, If we paid a card down by $10,000 and then had $4,000 of charges in June, then the report would show $6,000, regardless of how much the total balance on the account was.
Is this possible? I tried searching the internet, but the vast majority of results are about payroll and sales tax liabilities, neither of which apply to our situation, so I wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

I know a report showing the net liabilities over a given period. I'm here to guide you on how you can pull it up.
In QuickBooks Desktop, we have a Custom Summary report. You can modify the report details to show the data you need. Here's how:
Once completed, you can see the columns for each month and rows for each liability account. It also displays how much the account changed for that specific month.
In addition, I'll provide this additional reference about the available reports in QBDT that you can pull up to track your business liabilities: Understand reports.

You can do this with a balance sheet, though it will also include the balances.
- Start with a standard balance sheet.
- Then click the Customize report button, and on the Display tab...
- Pick the desired period, like "This Fiscal Year"
- In the Columns section then pick Month for the Display Columns by, and then select Previous Period and $ Change.
- Then, on the Filters tab, pick All liabilities for the Account Filter
Thanks. I was hoping there was a way to show ONLY the change per month (like you can with Income/Expense accounts) but this will make-do.
