Reports - Time & Costs

When I create a T&M invoice I select the "time and costs tab".  Is there a report that has this information combined, with subtotals if possible?  So I can review prior to populating my invoice?  If not, can I please get a reference on hiring someone to create this report for my company?

Reports - Time & Costs

Hello there, @Brenda17200. Let me share information about the report that you want to pull up in QuickBooks Desktop.

You'll want to run two separate reports for the time and cost that need to be combined. Please note that the cost data will not be displayed if payroll has not been completed or expenses have not been generated for employees/vendors linked to the billable time for the customer.

That said, you can run the Time by Job Detail and Payroll Item Detail reports in QBDT. To run the two reports, follow the steps below:

  1. From the Reports menu, select Jobs, Time & Mileage, then Time by Job Detail Report
  2. Click the Customize Report button.
  3. Change the From and To date as necessary.
  4. In the Columns section, search for the Item column, then select it.
  5. Click OK, then Done.

To run the Payroll Item Detail report, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on Reports, Employees & Payroll, then Payroll Item Detail.
  2. Click on Customize.
  3. From the Display tab, select Qty in the Columns list.
  4. From the Total by dropdown, select Employee.
  5. Go to the Filters tab and select Payroll Item.
  6. Choose the specific item associated from the dropdown.
  7. Click OK.

Then, you can consider exporting the report in Excel. From there add the totals and other other details on the report. In the same manner, here's an article you can read to learn more about how you can customize a report: Customize customer, job, and sales reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, to learn more about how QuickBooks generates reports, you can refer to this article: Understand reports. It also includes the complete lists of available reports in QBDT

Please let me know in the comment section below if you have follow-up questions while working on your reports. I'll be right here to help you out. Have a good one!

Reports - Time & Costs

Yes, that is what I have been utilizing.  I need "real time" updates in excel, without having to export and manipulate.  Can anyone refer someone I can hire to create this report?  Either in Advanced Reporting or ODBC?  I need the reports listed to be combined, with subtotals by items and in real time.
