Restaurant Question

I have a restaurant and my Point of Sale company will deduct my credit card fee's before they deposit the funds into my account. I can run a report that will let me know the $$ amount of fee's. How would I record this into my Quickbooks so I can see this in my P&L?

I can help you track this expense to see this in your reports, @kburn003.


You can create a service item fee and set the category to where this amount will be posted. Once done, you can add this fee to your invoices.


Here's how to create a service fee:


  1. Go to the Sales menu and select the Products and services tab.
  2. Click on New and choose Service.
  3. Give the fee a name.
  4. From the Category dropdown, select the category that best describes the fee
  5. Provide all the information needed.
  6. Click Save and close once you're done.
