Sales By Customer Summary vs Income by Customer Summary

Hi,

I have pulled both of these reports & there is a difference of $22.50 for just one of our customers. I made sure both reports had the same parameters when I pulled them. I also reviewed the invoices & payments made by that customer. The total is correct on the Sales By Customer Summary Report but not for the Income By Customer Summary Report. This customer had no credits or adjustments. What would cause the difference?

Check to see if the problem customer has any journal entries, journal entries do not always show in reporting

I just checked & there wasn't an additional entry. Just the 3 invoices & 3 payments.

I can share some info about the reports and let me help you how to run them to show the same results. 

 

The Income by Customer Summary shows your income minus your expenses for each customer. While the Sales by Customer Summary report only show the total sales for rach customer. Let's ensure that the accounting method used in pulling up the reports is the same. Also, you can click on the amount total to drill down to what's causing the difference. 

 

Further, we can try performing a few browser troubleshooting steps to verify if the discrepancies between the reports are caused by stored cache files. Try logging into your QBO account using a private browser.To use a private browser, here's how:

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If this works, it means that you need to clear your browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result while using a private browser, I recommend switching to a different browser.

I've done all that you have listed but it didn't work. The difference is still there. The difference is also not an invoice amount. it's only $22.50.
